Default Ex Cowboy David Lang, Dead

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

================================================== =======

ATLANTA (AP) -- Former Los Angeles Rams running back David Lang, who also played on the Dallas Cowboys' Super Bowl XXX championship team, was killed in a shooting, police said Saturday.

Lang, 37, was shot and killed following an apparent argument with an acquaintance Thursday near his Stone Mountain home, about 20 miles northeast of Atlanta, said police Lt. L.J. Florea.

Mario Holmes, 20, was arrested and charged with murder, according to Sgt. J. Germano of the DeKalb Police Department. Lang was shot twice, Germano said.

Lang, a 12th-round draft pick from Northern Arizona University in 1990, played four years in Los Angeles before spending the 1995 season with the Cowboys.

In 1992, Lang rushed for 203 yards on 33 carries for the Rams. He also caught 18 passes for 283 yards and scored six touchdowns.

Lang was the special teams captain for the Cowboys' Super Bowl victory over Pittsburgh following the 1995 season.

Born in Loma Linda in Southern California, Lang made his home in the Atlanta area during his NFL career, according to the Rev. Reginald Beamon of Holyland Church of God In in San Bernardino.

Lang's funeral was scheduled in San Bernardino Friday, Beamon said.

Yeah me neither. The guy was only w/the boys one year. It just happened to be our SB year, so he gets tied to DC history vs the Rams where he spent the bulk of his career.

Sad his life ended so early and in the way it ended.

The title of the actual article describes him as an Ex-NFL Running Back and Former LA Ram. I think the poster of this thread just put Ex-Cowboy to tie it into this board so people would realize its relevance here.

While that is true, what Yeagermeister said so true also.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

In the article it clearly says "Former Los Angeles Rams running back David Lang, who also played on the Dallas Cowboys' Super Bowl XXX championship team, was killed in a shooting, police said Saturday."

So it's pretty obvious that they are first associating him with the Rams. They go on to say he played a year with the Cowboys.

It seems pretty cut and dry, they say he was a Rams player in the title and first and foremost in the article. They then mention that he played a year for the Cowboys - which apparently he did. So how is it anything against the Cowboys to mention that?

People on here are so sensitive about anyone mentioning a Cowboys player in anything negative. Get over it, he played for the Cowboys so they put it in the article. Maybe they should pretend he left the NFL after he stopped playing for the Rams??

Dale is right, I changed the title so you would know to read further down into the article. I didn't remember this guy either, as I thought Kenny Gant was the special teams captain that year. But the original article title did not mention the Cowboys. Sorry for the confusion....

While what you say is true, I did a search of news articles yesterday when it was first posted and ALL of them lead w/Ex-Cowboy, Former Dallas Cowboy, and whatnot. So while the headline for this article may have been more accurate in it's original incarnation, it wasn't in about 5 others.

Might be a little ticky-tacky to note, but we see it all the time when it comes to the Cowboys.

That said, I'll keep the man's family in my prayers.

OK I thought Dale was saying that jakecamp12 had added to the story that Lang had played for Dallas. I didn't even think about the Title. So sorry for the mistake....
