Make no mistake about it, we'll use TEs in H-back formations while a FB sits on the bench. Even down on the goal line. However, it is too risky not to have a dedicated lead blocker to keep the defense on their toes.
You know why Jeff Robinson only catches TD passes? It has nothign to do with him being a redzone threat. It has to do with him not being a threat so he is forgotten. Anyone can catch a lollypop pass. He has 4 TDs on plays where the defense was caught napping, not 4 TDs on his amazing ability. His amazing ability is Long Snapper.
[View Full Quote]Haivng a FB gives you an extra runner as well. Seldom is a TE more effective than a FB on taking a handoff. If we see that a team is keyed on JJ we'll need someone to take the pill. Enter Polite.
I personally dont care if he never catches a pass. I just want a FB who can pick up the blitz and keep Henson upright. (Bledsoe or Romo too if serendipity dictates.)

Have you seen Everage lately.
If the defense is keying on Jones, play action becomes a huge weapon and I'd much rather have Campbell as a blocker with Witten blowing past a LB or safety, keying the run, for a big play down the seam, then having Polite carry out a play fake with a lead block into the line.
It's like I said about the defense, let's put the best 11 players on the field and Campbell is better than Polite, IMO.

Campbell is better than Polite as an overall player, but not for every offensive option. I wouldn't send JJ in motion and hand off to Campbell. Not more than a play or two in a whole season anyway. Polite can actually be of service there.
Who's to say he won't turn out to be our best goal line option as a pound it in there FB? Sort of like "Touchdown" Tommy Vardell. Now, I won't go out on a limb and guarantee he will do that, but it wouldn't be the first time in NFL History that a FB was a goal line weapon, nor will it be the last.
I'd tell you what I read the other day about Brandon Everage but it wouldn't carry much weight since I wrote it. Sigh................my albatross.

Better to need bonus points than instant replay so you get a call right at the buzzer.

I can honestly say I have never had a call overturned, but the goal is to get it right, right?

A true fan has a can near by for such emergencies, or you need to work on your aim and distance.

I'm not afraid of your wife Tricky. I'm afraid of that monster attack fish you threatened people with in the Off Topic Zone. I shudder just thinking about that Beware of Fish sign.

You can suggest it, but I'm not any more inclined to do that than I am to put a TV and PC in the crapper.
