If K-Pup would have been healthy Deion would not even have been needed.
I believe we could have signed a much less costly alternative to Deion who produced all of 2 INTs that year compared with 6 each for Larry Brown and Brock Marion.
Sanders returned one punt (for 54 yards) and one kickoff (for 15 yards) and on offense caught 2 passes (for 25 yards) and ran the ball twice on end-arounds (for 9 yards). He scored ZERO TDs for us in the regular season. He did have one INT in the playoffs as well as 3 runs for for 23 yards one for a TD, plus 3 receptions for 95 yards. Larry Brown had 3 INTs, 2 in the SB as you will recall.
[View Full Quote]I just don't remember Deion being all that much of a factor that season, despite the incredible hype the media gave him. Emmitt led the league in rushing and set a record for TDs in a season with 25. Irvin and Aikman were at the top of their games, the O-Line was the best in the league.
We didn't get to and win the SB because of Deion but because of our great offense and a solid defense.

Think about it, why do you think they got that many ?
Teams only threw to half of the field. Do you realize how easy that made it for the DC ?
As you say, we had a lot of great players, but Deion was one of them, .. no denying it.

We had enough talent to win the Super Bowl without Deion. The only reason we overpaid to get him was to get him off the 49ers roster.
But we definitely paid the price in the following years. He was paid to be a kick/punt returner, CB, and WR. When he went down, we lost 3 players.
His HUGE contract also excluded us from being into valuable depth which we sorely needed.
He was far from the missing piece to the Super Bowl puzzle. We had the talent to win it all without him ... but his HUGE contract kept us from getting back into it.

If he needs money he needs some serious financial counseling. He just can't stand to be out of the spotlight.

The need for more money from an already established millionaire is much different than the need by a non-millionaire. Counseling isn't always required -- especially if he placed his money in high-risk ventures that may not have yielded
profits.

Agree, probably some of that involved in his decision.

No argument. Didn't think you'd pull the "T.O. Card" on me

No one's gonna do it for free IMO. And it might be money driven a little bit, but I think he has plenty of money. Even Aikman was contemplating coming back several times, he just simply wanted to play.

Phoenix-Talon, T.O. designed and printed his own "card"...not me. Sorry if the truth hurts. Deion doesn't even play for us anymore, yet you sieze and seem to enjoy any opportunity to bash.
I'll see your " " and raise you a ":whatever:"

"Bash" you say?!? I may bash a little; but we get "bashed" every day. I give it; but I take it!
