Default Patriots cut Rohan Davey

I think he has more potential than Romo & Henson combined.

He did very well in Europe last year. I haven't heard a thing on him since.

All we have had the past several years is potential... how 'bout we get something with a little more than potential.

If the Pats were not interested, then why should we be?

This just goes to show how difficult it is to play QB at the NFL level.

Davey had an unbelievable arm in college, throwing for nearly 500 yards for LSU against Bama his Sr. year, but he has now been beaten out by a backup SC QB who never played behind Leinart.

The line of If the pats arent interested why would we be hold on water?

If we went by that then Jake Delhome, Favre, Brooks, Warner and countless other qb's would be bagging groceries.
Maybe the guy from USC was a lot cheaper to keep, remember it's a business. Maybe he fell out of favor with the coaching staff.

Our backup qb's arent exactly lighting the world on fire.

We did. His name is Bledsoe.

So lets see: young, still learning qbs with potential aren't what we want; older, veteran qbs who are solid aren't what we want. Seeing as how we aren't going to be getting Peyton Manning any time soon, what the heck do you guys want? Anything less than a 22 year old Hall of Fame qb doesn't stand a chance with the fans here. It reminds me of the calls to bench Aikman early in his career for the "better" Steve Walsh. Or the horrendous treatment Danny White got. The same with Dandy Don.

I agree. I also think Bledsoe is going to do a good job running this offense

It's funny, you'll curse henson but look at Davey's preseason... 22.5 qb rating

I like Davey. The guy is a monster... absolutely huge with a cannon for an arm.

They cut him because they have a very reliable and durable starter in Brady, a local hero and dependable backup in case Brady gets dinged in Flutie, and then a cheap-as-hell long-term project at #3 in Cassell.

There was no spot for Davey in that mix. He was their #2 all last year, but I think they wanted an upgrade for their backup and while Flutie is old, if Brady goes down mid-season, I can't think of a better guy to step in and keep things going.

That said, we won't get a shot at him, because I'd be shocked if Nick Saban doesn't pick him up and throw him into the mix in Miami.

Good one! that really sums him up perfectly!!

Also, I don't think the mental part of the position is one of Davey's strengths.
