Bledsoe Holds on to the Ball a long time - But I am ok with it.
(Have not had time to post since the last game.)
I am becoming a big fan of Bledsoe.
During the first part of the game I was very frustrated with Bledsoe holding the ball to long. The guy would basically continue to look for an open reciever until he either got sacked or someone got open.
As the game wore on I began to appreciate this trait of his because many times it was translating into receptions. There was even one point where he made a completion with a defensive player hanging on his back.
I am somewhat concerned with the potential of fumbles that may occur from this. But the fumble he had Sunday (on a sack) was due to a blindside blits from the CB that should have been picked up by the RB.
I was also impressed by the lack of drops from our Wide Receivers. Glenn, Key and Crayton caught everything that was thrown to them. I don't think enough value can be placed on a reciever that catches the ball. 1 or 2 drops can be the difference between a win and a loss. And all of these guys not only catch the easy balls...they also catch the hard ones. That ball that Glenn snatched off his shoelaces was phenomenal. And the sideline catch and last TD catch by Keyshawn were things of beauty.
I am not sure if Pierce has equivelant hands to these 3, because I have not seen him play. But if he doesn't, then I say leave him as the 4th receiver....regardless of how fast he is.
This group of Witten, Key, Glenn and Crayton is the best tandem of hands this fan has ever seen on one team.

He can be very successfull but needs two things:
a good offensive line and receivers that can get open. We will have a good line very soon and we have lots of receivers that can get open. When this line gels, we are going to give offensive coordinators nightmares. Especially when our defense gets it together and starts giving us a short field to work with.

I suspect that he will still takes sacks even if he has the best line in the game. Albeit, a better line and better receivers should equate to lower sack totals.
But...if you give him more time....and he does not have an open reciever....he will simply hold that ball until someone gets open. This guy does not give up on a play.
But he does not seem to try to force the ball as the time runs down. He does not seem to panic. He simply continues to scan for the open receiver.
Because of this, this guy is going to take more sacks than other QB's. But at the same time he is going to get completions where others do not.
The key is for the receivers and the OLine not to give up on a play.

Agreed !
If he continues to not try and force the Ball (A LA Vince Young ) then interceptions should be down.

Fumbles and negative yards. Holding the ball is real bad. It's not gonna be pretty when we meet up with Philly and other strong defensive teams. (Thank God we are not playing Atlanta in the regular.)
When everyone was crying about Bledsoe holds and pats the ball too long .... he won't be a good QB for us .... I was willing to give him a chance. I've seen it with my own eyes. I don't like it At least I know what to expect now. I hope BP continues to call his attention to it. The longer the season go on, the more pressure BSo is going to get.

We desperately need to learn how to run the screen play effectively
We are about to run into a strong defensive team this Monday. And one that is very familiar with Bledsoe's strengths and weaknesses.
Will be very interesting to see what the outcome is. Will tell us a lot in respect to expectations for this season.
I would not be surprised if we focus heavily on the running game.
Last week we saw a shootout....next week we may see a ball control, field position defensive battle.
But I am expecting to see turnovers from our defense.

I'm a bit suprised to see Dallas not run the middle screen, our lineman tend to have a problem blocking in space but in using the middle screen it is a bit easier on the lineman to come up and make those blocks.

Agreed !
And it's not like the opposing defense would be game planning for it.
Probably the first thing they cross of thier list...when game planning for Dallas...is worrying about defending against the screen

Bledsoe has his own "style" no doubt about it. Yes he will fumble more, but I believe this is more than offset by the fact that he completes more passes and throws fewer interceptions.
What really concerns me is the physical punishment that he subjects himelf to by holding onto the ball so long. Remind you of anyone?

Aikman. I do find it funny though that Bledsoe was sacked 4 times but so was Vick on monday night. Yet look at the numbers posted by each man
