Let's say for arguments sake we release Hutch, and place Romo on the Practice Squad where we lose him to a team that is injured at QB.
Vinny is a 1 year band aid. That means we go from 5 QBs in 2004 to 2 in 2005.
It could happen.

Very good point, You almost have to keep the 4th QB on the active roster if you want to be assured he's there next year.

I'm not really comfortable with Vinny in Dallas, I just don't get it.
And who knows about Romo?
An improved offense will just make Carter better or at least look better and we will see if Henson develop as the real deal or not.
If we get to 2 QB then we'll get one in FA or late rd draft next year.

Romo on the Practice Squad is an invitation to losing him. Waiving Hutch or trading him the same. Vinny's age alone is an invitation.
Now maybe people will understand why I advocated Kerry Collins. A whole lot less shaky than what we have right now.
I'll let others rely on Carter. I'll root for him and rely on Henson being equal to the task and hype.
I am already wondering which veteran QBs might be available in 2005. I just prefer that to another draft selection. I don't even have any faith in Hutch or Romo but I still don't want just 2 signal callers next off season if Vinny (hopefully) hangs em up.

Actually, after two years of this QB crap, would that be such a bad thing?

Two years?
I'd say we've been in QB purgatory for at least 4 years, if you count the uncertainty we had in Aikman's last year or so with all the concussions.
Even though alot of other teams (Pittsburgh, Chicago, Detroit, Washington etc.) have been going through this alot longer, when they signed Henson, I could swear I saw a little light at the end of this sewer pipe.
"Young man, when you throw a strike, Mr. Hornsby will let you know."
Bill Klem when a pitcher questioned a called ball to Rogers Hornsby.

I'm talking QB wars, Nightshade.
This problem started in 94-96 when we should have been drafting QBs to groom.
We should have been using the GB approach, but we kept signing FAs like Kosar and Cunningham and had a #3 QB/coach type with Garrett.
We were completely unprepared for Aikman's retirement.

I agree on the Collins thing, it would have really solidified our QB position for the next few years if QC and Henson just don't work out.
Did he just sign a one year deal?

I would have to say it does not look good for Chad right now, it is ashame we have to give up on him after only 9 starts but sometimes that is the way things go in this league. I do think he will get another oppertunity in the league it just won't be here.
