Default Preseason Games & Paying the Rent

Televising the preseason games is the best move NFL Network has made to date. I will have to cut off all 19th century (and beyond) means of communcation on our game days. I will be recording the games (during working hours) and don't want anyone to spoil the suspense of seeing it all for myself the first time around. (Note to self: buy new VCR ... rewind capability is shot on current system )

Err, sorry but I've got some bad news for you, Sportsbabe.

I've been checking those long range weather forecasts and the meteorologists have your neck of the woods down for prolonged precipitation the entire month of August. Torrential downpours, in fact. Daily.

I'd wait on busting out for that tivo if I were you.

It looks like you'll be coming home each evening to nine recorded hours of "searching for satellite signal".

LOL Don't even try it. It rains here in Birmingham every 4 hours so I'm used to it. And the threat of a hurricane every time it rains is so exciting. Satellite usually goes out for only 5 minutes, depends on how thick the clouds are. But every other day when I go home for lunch I have to reset all my clocks. I love it here in Birmingham

But seriously, I don't understand what you mean about holding off on the Tivo. Was that a joke?

Sounds like Birmingham, ENGLAND.

Yes, I was joking. Get it asap so you feel comfy with the programming of it (easy)when the games kick in. Tivo will make life even more wonderful.

NFL network also has mid week respites from game programmimg so you may even get the time to watch a few of them.

Will Tivo destroy my life? I really like TV. Especially the shows with rich, young, healthy men getting physical. Will Tivo consume the 5 hours I have remaining every day?

From August to June I am NFL & NBA sprung. I've got it bad. Will Tivo have me checking into Television Rehab? I still haven't recovered from my first exposure to NFL Sunday Ticket. Now, I can't live without it. I want to move into a new apartment but I am fearful that they won't let me bring my DirecTV. (Forget them :p !!! I've got NFL Sunday Ticket!!!) I'll just have to keep parking my car 3 doors down so that the neighborhood alcoholic won't crash into my car.) It took me 2 years to give in to NBA League Pass. I don't want to OD on Tivo. LOL

I still have a lot of questions. I guess I'll have to call DirecTV to find out more info.

tivo can be nice, we bought a series 2 for like 300 dollars i think maybe 400, and then you have to pay to get it activated to record with it, which you can pay monthly charges of 12.95 a month or a lifetime fee of 300, and the bad part to the lifetime fee is it's the lifetime of your tivo, not you

Gee, this board is destroying my life, why should I care if tivo destroys yours?

Just kidding!

All tivo will do that you can't do now is allow you to tape games this fall while you are watching another. Assuming you have just one direct tv receiver. That means if you like to follow a player on another team, you can see those games too. To a great extent, Sunday Ticket get wasted without tivo. It just lets you take advantage of what you are already paying for.

Tivo, like direct tv, won't make us any more football crazy than we already are, and since we are both "out of market" football fans, it was heaven sent for us.

You can just get a receiver that has tivo built in so its all in one box.

Directv will sell it to you, you could get it free with a new customer package but since you already have directv they'll probably make you buy it, like 300 bucks.

And theres an extra I think 5 dollar charge on your bill each month, but you don't have to pay the tivo monthly or lifetime like hummer mentioned.

Yes Nomad, it is 4.95 per month per receiver. And if she can wait til direct tv does a tivo deal - she can get that reciever for less than 200 (that's what they advertised last summer to their current customers, probably do it every year). Then she can get it hooked up by their people and not have to worry about splicing cables, and what not.

Just think Sportsbabe, you can also tape every ever-luvin' second of Michael Irvin on ESPN Sunday Countdown while watching the Cowboys Huddle Show pregame show.

(that should do it)

You know me very well (in this short period of time). It's very stressful flipping back and forth from Huddle to Countdown, BP to Playmaker. Madness I tell ya!!!!! Madness!!!!!

Great info. I'll have to check it out.

Sense is like quarterback accuracy, SB.

Highly over-rated.

Btw, did you see Irvin's interview of Terry, Joey, and AB last year? It was so cute - TG wearing that Cowboys hat with the strings. I was overseas at that time and the person who taped it for me did it on vcr, not dvd, and I later mistakenly taped over it.

What a bummer.

LOL. You are in a zone today

Yes, I saw my future husband do his piece on the BG's (Bryant, Galloway & Glenn). I see you got a thing for the Vanilla Child. You know what they say, the darker the berry the sweeter the juice. In Mike's case, you might go into a diabetic coma. But I digress ....
