Default derek andersen at qb for oregon is no chopped liver

and that's a pass happy conference. you cannot play the run against oregon or any team in the pac 10 - its a throwing league. that does help any rb.

ND had no offense last year - that is a fact. so they had 4 returning oline men...they had no offense, no qb to speak of. jones had to do a lot on his own becuase there was no need to defend the pass and this was against usc and the big 10, defensive juggernauts.

we don't know who's better, but its arguable and if you throw in the 2nd round pick and potentially a 1st rounder next year...I take it.
But what QB, Receivers, OL etc. did Steven Jackson have to play behind. You are forgetting he played for Oregon State and not Ohio State.

And teams have serious doubts about Kevin Jones being able to run between the tackles. And he ran a bad 40 team.

What QB, OL, WR's did Steven Jackson have? Since when has Notre Dame's OL been considered bad? They routinely have one of the best offensive lines every year regardless of their talent at the skilled positions. Notre Dame's OL is better than what Jackson had to deal with.
Stephen Jackson atleast had Derek Anderson. While he was far from great, he did throw for 4,000 yrds this year. Julius Jones had a freshman that threw for 1800 yrds, and completed 47% of his passes. As for Jones's OL, you are exactly right about Jones's OL UNTIL this year. Announcers on TV were even comminting on how unsusally BAD ND's OL was this year. They had 4 FRESHMAN STARTING on their OL, and lost ALL of the top players on their OL from the year before. While ND USUALLY does have a very good OL, it was pertty bad pitiful this year.

As I said, Jackson had NO OL either. And while he definately did not have a great QB, by ANY stretch of the imagination. Derek Anderson was head and shoulders above Brady Quinn (a FRESHMAN) this year. Brady Quinn Threw for ONLY 1800 yrds, and completed 47 of his passes. He also has SEVERAL games where he threw for LESS than 50 yrds TOTAL.

Stephen Jackson has VERY LITTLE help this year, Julius Jones was a 1 man show on offense.

1800 passing yrds TOTAL from your starting QB, is beyond horrendious. While Derek Anderson may not be a good QB, he was not HORRENDIOUS!!!

Rahul, and just for the sake of arguement, if you go with both ND, and Oregon State having NO QB, NO WR's, or NO OL. And both Jackson and Jones were 1 man shows.

Jackson only averaged 4.4 yrds per carry.
Jones averaged 5.8 yrds per carry.

Now I am not saying that Jackson shouldn't have been the #1 RB drafted this year, he definately should have been, mainly because of his size, and he is an excellent RB. But, J. Jones is an excellent RB also, and may very well prove to be the best RB in this class.

It doesn't matter which of these guys is better than the other because each would be an upgrade at the RB position. Which is all we wanted , correct?

We got what we wanted but also what we needed ... O line depth.

and its not over!
