Default The Key to Beating Denver is stopping the Run

Denvers strength is in running the ball and stopping the run.

They have the 2nd Ranked Rushing Offense and the 2nd Ranked Rushing Defense.

But they only have the 20th ranked passing offense and the 28th ranked Passing Defense.

I think that Dallas's defensive fronts will match up well against the Denver running game. Dallas has struggled with the smash mouth physical running games......but I believe that they are athletic and quick enough to hold up against the more finesse running style of the Bronco's.

I really think that this is a matchup that favors Dallas.

isnt tatum bell injured? if so this makes the game MUCH easier for the defense b/c they have to play inside out now, instead of outside in. Anderson doesn't stretch the field at all, he is a pound it type guy.

Yes, except for the fact that Denver could stick Helen Keller back there and gain 150 yards rushing

stats don't mean jack to me anymore... all stats showed Dallas killing Filly last Monday night, and they obviously prepared to defend the pass and Filly came out and ran, ran, ran with a very balanced attack...

IMO Dallas can guard against the pass with our set of CBs... Dallas needs to work on stopping the run at all costs...

I don't believe in team motivation. I believe in getting a team prepared so it knows it will have the necessary confidence
when it steps on a field and be prepared to play a good game... Tom Landry

I think we actually match up better against a stretch guy than a pound it guy.

The key here is that the better defense will win. And I think we're the better defense, If Henry Starts. Their offense struggles if it does not capture an erly lead, so for us the key will be ot take that away.

In order to accomplish that we'll need to start Henry at CB and move A.Glenn back to nicke CB. That will take Jake Plummer's passing game out of the mix, forcing them to beat our defensive front by running the ball.

Wth Henry back there, there will be less of a neet for us to hold R.Williams back to defend the pass, thus allowing us to cheat R.Williams up in the box to stop their running game.

It will all come down to Henry's status and his ability to hold his own at CB.

Control the line of scrimage and you usually win the game. Pressure the QB and shut down the run and you win the game. Football 101.

I hope we don't get any injured DL from Denver's dirty tactics (IMO).

One other thing is to contain Plummer. We must have a pass rush to hurry Plummer into mistakes. And we must contain him to stop those run around for 15 secs then throw a 40 yd bomb.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

Their defensive rankings are misleading, since their opponents have passed 67 percent of the time. They've faced by far the least runs of any team and the most passes of any team (which makes their paltry sack total even less impressive). They allow 4.0 yards per rush, which isn't great (it's the same as us), but their pass defense actually is much better than 28th-best.

Oh, and most likely, the team that passes the ball more effectively will win this game, not the team that runs better.

I dunno...something still bothers me about them. I can't put my finger on it but I'm still not a believer.

I'm not anti-Plummer...and I do respect Shanahan...I think the defense can be had. And they have a HUGE home field advantage. But they're a bit of a different team on the road.

As an aside, I was watching the Jet game...their Offensive linemen are all built like TE's...downright small in this day and age of 325 lb behemoths. They are very mobile and really well schooled in their system and technique.

So when we rematch NYG you'd rather play Tiki than Brandon Jacobs?

I know i'd rather play a pound it guy and play 8 in the box.

Perhaps their oponents have passed 67 percent of the time because the opponents have had more success passing the ball. You tend to play to the oppositions strengths and weaknesses.

Also, Denvers passing game is predicated off of the running game. Play action is a huge part of Denvers passing attack. If you take away the running game and force them to beat you consistently with the pass on 3rd and long....then you have them playing into your hands.

Also, TOP is a big part of the system for both Parcells and Shanahan.

I would rather play a speed/finesse running team than a straight ahead power running team.

We are still undersized up the middle in my opinion. We had trouble with the Raiders and Philly (the last time) due to being overpowered up the middle.
