Default Goose with Norm on The Ticket...

Goose:
  • George is not the George of old and will be compared to Anderson
  • George has 850 more carries than did OJ Anderson at the same point in their career
  • George has 1000 more carries than Riggins did at the same point in their career
  • George could be an effective spot player
  • Every carry George gets is slowing the development of Julius Jones
  • The defense is going to have to be great and the offense will have to be flawless
  • The Williams retirement benefits Buffalo and may make them a playoff team
  • Miami kissed his caboose with every demand and he left them high and dry
  • Williams statement that he was using a masking agent is just inviting the NFL in for tougher enforcement
  • Williams stood up at 6/22 practice and told the team that they need to rededicate themselves for this season
  • If Williams DOES come back... Miami will probably try to move him
  • With Miami obviously falling now... Buffalo could have a better record than Dallas
  • This was more than likely a spur of the moment decision
  • Idiot Miami fan calls in... tells phin fans to "stand-fast"... there will be a championship in Miami this year...
  • Julius has to get the most carries by alot to learn in this league
  • Many players in the league don't have a real passion to play in the NFL... high first rounders are set for life with signing bonuses... they have no incentive

Gee Goose thinks Eddie George is a waste...

Hmm, I'm getting to like the "Goose".

Goose loves sticking it to Cowboy fans. He may be right, but he never misses a chance to stick it to us Cowboy fans.

The ironic thing about this Goose Glop is he is beating the Buffalo Bills drum when their signal caller is the Eddie George of NFL quarterbacks.

Bledsoe has very little, if anything, left. Everyone who is assuming that Buffalo is going to be a playoff team is assuming a lot, IMO. It's impossible to predict.

This is kind of a misleading statement considering most coaches/scouts routinely state that a running back position is the easiest to transition to from college to pros.

ps: Don't you EVER work!!!??? :p

Myself I'm glad we got George, he is a very sure handed back and I think he will be a big help in red zone offense as well as a guy who can come in a series or 2 to give J. Jones a rest. No doubt George is a 3 or 4 yards and a cloud of dust running back but I watched Parcells take a Giants team to a Super Bowl with that style of RB.

I agree with that statement, you find out pretty quickly what you have at the RB position when the pads come on. I think the main concern with most rookies is being able to handle the full 16 week schedule not including the pre-season games. Going from 10 games season to 20 will cause many rookie players to hit the wall late in the season.

Goose's mantra:

Rust Belt GOOD
Cowboys BAD

Just hearing the guy is irritating.

So thanks for taking that bullet, Trickblue.

I agree. If we had signed EG to be "THE MAN," then I would have a problem with it. But that is not the case.

I expect JJ to start the season as the starting RB, and finish the season as the starting RB. EG's benefit will be to ge 12 or so carries a game, and perhaps in short yardage/goal line situations. He won't be expected to carry the load. And this will not stunt the development of Jones.

If the Cowboys had not brought EG in, then they would be saying that Dallas was stupid for not going after Jones w/no proven feature back on the roster. If someone else had signed EG, it would have been considered "A great move."

I haven't read enough of Goose's articles to know his opinion on the matter, but did he really think the Cowboys were making a wise move entering the season with Cason and Lee as their primary backups at running back? I'm thinking not.

That's why I like this move. It won't take away from Julius' carries if Julius proves he should be getting the majority of them. I'd rather see Jones fight for the job than have it handed to him just because we don't have anyone else at running back.

Good players steal reps away from others. We'll see just how good Julius is.

Exactly, George is not here to carry the entire load he is here to provide much needed depth at a position where there are question marks.

I agree...I'm not buying into "Eddie will cut into JJ carries and retard his growth" at all. Eddie will be a great mentor and motivator for JJ...plus if JJ is the real deal he will get most of the carries and Eddie will get less...bottom line. To me its a win win situation.

THe Super Bowl team that Anderson was on for the Giants avg. 3.5 ypc. I don't they brought him in thinking he could rush for 4+ypc. I think they brought him in for depth and security incase JJ doesn't work out or gets hurt. I think he will be great for JJ to learn from. If he's interfering with the progress of JJ, then why did we sign Vinny?
