Default Today is...

...Bob Lilly's 65th birhday.

For those of you who never saw him play, my apologies. He was simply awesome.

I started watching the boys around the time a stud from Maryland was drafted by the Cowboys...the one and only Manster....so I did not really get to see much of lilly play...which is my displeasure to say.

I hear you guys!!!

I have heard and read so much about "Mr. Cowboy". How he could be gentle off the field but ferocious and unblockable on the field.

Man, just thinking about this guy, I start to wonder how opposing defenders felt going up against him. Also, I always wonder how guys like Larry Allen and Nate Newton would fair against him in practice or a "mythical" Cowboys vs Cowboys game.

I haven't seen any interviews lately but everytime I watch something with Bob Lilly I can't help but think he looks so freaking young for that age. He still has that football buff look to him and age has been kind on his face. He looks younger than some of the late 1970's players.

In film sessions players said he would practice touching his own eye teaching himself not to blink. Amazing focus and power. Combine that with an intellect and you hve a blueprint of a great player.

If anyone travels through Las Cruces, New Mexico on I-10, take a short little jaunt to Old Mesilla to his restaurant. Good food and he's a nice man.

TruBlue, was that picture taken when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Weird, I always steal Cowboysplus.com's "Today in History" excert and put it on my site , and today, the blurb was about Roy Williams signing. I would think it would have been about today being Lilly's birthday.
