This once great safety is now 39 years old and coming off knee surgery.
Thanks for the memories Mr. woodson, but ....

NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!

My favorite players are dropping like flies, Ricky, now Rod....

Last winter right after the season ended Rod had surgery on his knees and the medical team filled some of the holes in his knee with the cartilige from cadavers, (yeh Mikey, REAL corpses :p )

Rich Eisen mentioned tonight this surgery previously was done on folks who were expected to lead rather sedentary lives. But I know at least one other player has had it, the player the Raiders cut this week Barrett Robbins, had it too, I think shortly before Rod's surgery.

That Robbins cut wasn't just about steroid abuse, I think. It sounds like the cadaver cartilige replacement surgery hasn't been as successful as hoped. There is some other surgical way to repair cartilige, but this was supposed to be the better way.

What a great player Rod Woodson was!

Was a nationally/world ranked High Hurdler in his day. Very, very good. Renaldo was my idol in the day. His agent called Walsh and said I have a guy who can run a 4.1. Walsh was not impressed. Agent replied, 4.1 over hurdles...........

Let Keith Davis have the job.

We don't need to turn into the Raiders. Another old person and we'll be competeing with them for average age.

I think Davis is experiencing a bit of the overly optimistic Cowboys fan hyping.

I think someone else pointed this out before. Rashidi Barnes and Calvin Spears were All NFLE safeties last year.

He may be hard pressed to make the roster.

Good point, junk.

If Woodson were being cut because of the Raiders' cap, it'd be one thing. But if he can't pass a physical, it seems rather pointless to have two banged up, aging Woodson's in the secondary.

Agreed. Role the dice with Davis and Dixon. If both of them fail, bring in someone else or look to the draft for help.
