Default Good Game Barber

Very good game for Barber 15 carries for 85 yards and a couple of catches for 32 yards. He provided a decent running game that really helped this offense.

Liking Barber more and more, anyone think he could become the main guy with Jones being the change of pace back ?

I would not be suprised if that were to happen for the remainder of this season. Listening to the call in show afterwards Pearson said Jones was still not 100%. Barber shows good vision, good speed and continues to keep his legs moving after contact.

I think what we are seeing here is not that Barber is a better back than JJ. I think JJ is the superior back hands down. But that Barber is a better fit for playing behind an o-line that doesn't get great push. He's more likely than JJ to break tackles so he can has a better chance when our O-line misses.

You could be right about that but if what Pearson said is true and JJ is not 100% and not getting yards after contact then Barber needs to be starting and getting the majority of carries. Barber is showing himself as a very good runner, he picks up the blocks and can catch the ball out of the back field.

Next year when the OL is fixed other teams will learn to hate Barber. He is the kind of player that makes a play and sticks the knife in another team. He will never put of great numbers but he will really help the offense.

I loved him at MINN in college, and love him now. Loved the pick, and where we got him. Have all year. He runs so hard, and just has the ability to find holes as few as they are. I would never replace him in short yardage situations with JJ.

A few weeks ago I'd have said NO WAY, but each and every game he's getting better and better...he's looking impressive. I like his size....runs HARD, and appears to have pretty good vision. Right now I like the rotation, but the way he's running he may get more snaps then JJ on a regular basis. What a nice problem to have!

the thing that impressed me the most with barber is how he just has a good feel for the game, right off the bat he was making great blocks picking up the blitz, and not just slowing guys down, he was hitting them and standing them up !!!

Plus he looks so natural catching the ball, he seems fluid out there. Some backs and TE's look clumsy adjusting to passes, like their own feet get in the way....Barber just looks good catching and running after the catch.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Barber is clearly the best back we have in all phases of the game. Who cares if Julius is faster. If the position was all about speed, Newman would be getting all the carries.

I don't think I've seen anyone in the NFL pick up the blitz better than Barber, and there only a couple that I've seen break more tackles.

I just wish they would call JJ's number on some draws- all the draws in this game came with Barber. Considering how much damage JJ did last year on draws, to not call a draw for him is just plain stupid.
