Miami's reaction can help Dallas.
If the Dolphins start begging for a running back like George to the tune of a 2nd round pick, should Dallas pull the trigger?? George would get his shot as a starter again, and Dallas would have 2 #1's and 2 #2's in next years draft. I think that's a pretty good idea. When is the latest that a team can trade a player during the season?
If Eddie George shows some promise in his first few games, Dallas could even get a 1st rounder out of him. Then let Julius develop after the trade. DREAM! Imagine THREE FIRST ROUND PICKS in 2005 with Henson having a breakout year!

I wonder how many of these threads we will have until Miami fills that roster spot?

If not mistake I think the trade deadline last until mid to late october. As for trading George I think it is highly unlikely but if Miami was to offer a 2nd I would not be opposed to that trade. Myself I like the fact that we have George and I think he will play an important role for this team but a 2nd rd pick would be hard to turn down.

Yes.
And all truly brilliant and insightful.
They all left me wanting... more... and more.

I don't think you can turn around and trade a FA who's just signed a contract, but I'm not sure.
AdamJT, is this correct?
Plus, as has been noted, Miami gave its second round pick to the Eagles for Feeley.

C'mon.....some people have complained about other threads and had people get told "If you don't like it, don't post on it." or even "Don't read it then."
C'mon, it's still slow compared to what it will be like in the coming weeks. Actually, less than a week away. WOO-HOO!!!!
Jimz31 has spoken....you may now close the thread.

True enough.
For the umpteenth time. I don't think Miami would offer a 1st round pick or Adewale Ogunleye for Eddie George. They don't have a 2nd round pick. I wouldn't take a 3rd roudn pick as compensation. Don't see then how a deal could happen.

I agree but I took this question as hypothetical to begin with and was not even thinking that Miami did not have their 2nd rd pick next year. Your right though Miami would not give up a 1st for George and they would have to offer something else besides a 3rd round pick before I would want to part with George.

Right, I didn't know about the second round pick being traded away. Maybe get a third AND some DT help. And there's always a second round pick in 2006.
As for trading an FA, as I understand it, George is now property of the Cowboys, and they can use him for the benefit of the team. He has a clear cut chance of starting in Miami, but will be a role player (hopefully) in Dallas. He probably wants to go to Miami anyway.

Eddie could be on pace for a 2000 yard season and we couldn't get a 1st rounder for him ... the guy is seriously on the downside of his career and you don't rent a player for a year or two with a 1st round price tag. A second would be "an offer you can't refuse" in this scenario.

If Miami is trading draft picks or Ogunleye, they would be much wiser to go for a young stud RB, not Eddie George.
That scenario will not happen.
I am sure trading for EG would be about 10th on their list.
M Bennett
O Smith
N Davenport
A Thomas
W Macgahee
T Henry
J Stewart - free
S Mack - free
For Ogunleye they should get their pick of the above- maybe for Henry a little extra.
