Default Mack Brown can't win the big game, eh??

Can we now put that piece of BS to rest??

And who wants to try to tell me again how "overrated" the Horns are?? C'mon, Horns haters, step up and admit your folly...

Vince Young is God... I could have reached into my TV and choked Lee Corso when he kept squawkin' about how Young had to enter the NFL now...

I think he would be stupid not to. His stock will never be higher than it is right now.

I think once Mack won it this year at the RRS that the "cant win the big game" comments were put to rest.

Congratulations to Texas on a very well deserved win over USC. I didnt care who won really. I did lean for Texas a smidge because Im so sick of hear about USC. That and they were creeping up on OU's most wins in a row record.

Vince Young sure is fun to watch. Pete Carrol shot himself in the foot tho pulling out from blitzing Young there at the end. That was really messing w/ Texas. Those corner blitzes were throwing off some things for the Horns.

Fun game...

Again..

Good Game Tejas...you represented the Big 12 just fine. Now maybe that Pac 10 can go and for a while.

Better than the Big 12? Now that was laughable.

I've got a prayer on my desk. It says, "Dear Lord, I pray that my place will never be with the cold, timid souls who do not compete yet criticize, for they never know or feel success or failure."

Mack hasn't had to do a whole lot of coaching to shed that label. Vince has done that all by himself
I had an apartment and I had a neighbor, and whenever he would knock on my wall I knew he wanted me to turn my music down and that made me angry 'cause I like loud music... so when he knocked on the wall, I'd mess with his head. I'd say, "Go around! I cannot open the wall! I dunno if you have a doorknob on your side but over here there's nothin'. It's just flat."

Agreed.

Mack Brown will have to win a few more to shed the label.

I suspect that UT will have a down year this upcoming year. I think Young leaves, and IIRC 3 of the OL is leaving as are the two best players on the defense.

No, he has had some very talented teams over the years and they lost the big games. This season is the first time he can claim to have won them all. Even Coach Landry had to win a second Super Bowl before the critics were silenced.

I'm happy for Mack Brown. Now maybe we can keep our home grown boys south of the Red River!

To be fair, before last night's game, it was the truth.

I think Mack is going to have to win one without Vince, unfortunately. I think he's going to suffer from the Shanahan fate.

Vince Young picked that team up on his shoulders and carried it...

Before this season, many people were saying that Young was not even a good qb.

He has really improved a lot since his freshman year. I think the coaching staff has to get some credit for that.

I don't think they are great qb coaches, but Young has made enough strides under their leadership to "carry" the team to a national championship under their tutelage. as some of you guys seem to believe.

So Brown and his staff deserves credit for that.

I think Mack first got that label when he coached at North Carolina and could not beat FSU. I did not understand that. FSU was loaded with talent back then. Mack built a good team, but I never expected them to beat FSU.

Brown then takes over for Texas. That is a different situation. It is easier to get talent at Texas than it is at UNC. During his time, he has lost some very high profile games. Any OU game and the Big 12 championships to Colorado and Nebraska. I would say Texas had the same amount of talent as OU, if not more in a game or two during those losses. They were easily more talented than CU. Those losses are on him. He was very tight during those games. He didn't let his players play. He let Vincy play last night and it made a difference.

For example, when Texas lost the close game to OU in 2001, freshman Cedric Benson did not play a single snap. Even as a freshman, he was the best back on the team. He could have made a difference. In 2003 against Arkansas, freshman Vince Young never saw the field. He was an overly cautious coach that tended to try not to lose games. I don't see Bob Stoops keeping his talented players on the sidelines.

I do give credit to Mack leading Texas to victories at Nebraska. Those were big wins and came at a place that is usually very tough to win. But I think they really weren't big games. In 1998, Texas was an underdog and given no chance to win. With no chance, comes no pressure. He seems to coach differently in those situations. The next time they went to Lincoln, Nebraska was just not a good team.

Mack broke the choker label when he won a close game in last year's Rose Bowl. It seemed to change him and the way he coaches and that was reflected this season with the big win at Ohio St., beating OU, the Big 12 and now this. He may need to win a few more to guarantee the label is dropped, but he is on the righ track.
