Yeah but that wasnt an expansion team Troy was starting for either. Had it been, it may have very well been 4 demoralizing years.

And Troy has even said himself that there were times when he felt that it could have taken him 5 years in the league before he got "it".

If Houston were to give up on him and draft another QB, Carr could easily be had for a 2...no way a 1....They would have set the market by their willingness to trade him.

David Carr, if he is traded will probably go to a team that has a lot of pieces in place like KC, Chicago, or Minnesota who could throw him in and get results. I wouldnt be opposed to trading for him as long as it isnt a first day pick. Then we trade Romo or Henson and pick up another late rounder.

Carr, with the right system and talent can produce really well IMO. He just needs to get out of the football black hole we all call the Houston Texans.

I guess my point with Carr is that I just think his stock, right now, is at its absolute lowest. That's why I can't see a team trading a first-round pick for him. Look at Harrington. Both guys still have "potential" -- heck, didn't Harrington finish the year with one of his best performances? -- but I can't imagine any team investing a 1st-round pick for a 25-year old quarterback that hasn't really had a good season under his belt.

someone delete this or merge this with the thread in the draft zone.
I think this is a ridiculous idea. a 1st rd pick for a former #1 who has taken a beating and is not evne close to Bledsoe.

I think Houston has an option they have to pick up on Carr. Something like $8 million. He is technically a FA this year.

If they invest a first round SB on a QB, do they pick up his option as well?

In other words, no, I wouldn't trade for him. I might consider him if he was a street free agent.

As bad as Houston has been the last two years, his last QB ratings were 77.2 and 85.3, with 60+% completions. This is a few percentage points better than Drew Bledsoe and a greater percentage of completions........He can also run and he is only 26. I would give a 2 or 3rd in a heartbeat for this guy, he has a rifle for an arm.

hes 27 by next year. Do you really think he would start over Bledsoe? Probably not until 2008 at least when he will be 29.

The 2002 Texans were MUCH better than the 1989 Cowboys. For a #3, I might think about it. But NOT for a #1.

You think a 1-15 team is better than an expansion team that had at least 3-4 Pro Bowlers on their roster and numerous extra draft picks?

I would make this trade in a Heartbeat.

I was just informed that he will be 27 next year, which is a year younger than me, so I think that may be a tad bit old.

I think the kid still has skills and if you check his numbers, they are not all that bad. Heck, the guy owns the record for most times sacked...that's gotta say something about his offensive line.

It is very unrealistic and Madden-ese though, because Bledsoe is signed for what...2 more years....nah, I would rather get a 22-23 year old in the Draft...Young, Culter, or Leinhart.....hell, I will even take Reggie Mcneal

He will be solid on another team. I've already heard that the Texans aren't going to pick up the option on Carr. They may be going after Vince Young. I think he can be a good player in the right scheme, and I would have liked him a year or two ago, for a 2nd or 3rd, but I'd like to see Bledsoe get a little more time to try and finish his career as a super bowl champion.

I would not give more than a 3rd for him and not even sure I would do that at this point.
