Default Peter King from Camp Tuna on The Ticket...

King was in Oxnard for the a.m. practice yesterday... no mention on whether or not Mary Beth was with him...

King:
  • BP seems very happy and content... was very impressed with that...
  • Vinny looked good... great mechanics and arm...
  • Vinny will probably be QB at some point this season...
  • George will be an asset to this team... leadership will be invaluable...
  • Felt Dallas paid a bit much for him until after the Miami debaucle...
  • George has the lowest YPC of any 6000+ runner... but that is not always indicative of quality... watch him play...
  • Doesn't feel BP will have a quick hook with Q... If Q has a 2 game stretch of bad play... he will be pulled...
  • Q was taking check-downs and throwing the short pass to avoid mistakes... Vinny was letting it rip...
  • Dallas HAS to be able to hit Glenn deep... Q must make that throw...
  • Mentions Mary Beth...
  • Julius Jones is a tremendous football player... give him a chance...
  • Dallas significantly improved at RB...
  • Daleroy Stewart is a player to watch... not an "invention" of BP...
  • King said call him crazy on his Seahawk-Jaguar SB prediction... D&M called him crazy...
  • One bizarre team is always in the SB... felt after GB/Sea game that Seahawks were very good... Jags will probably be the surprise team... (What will Philly think?)

Hmmmm . . . . Seems as though G Wistrom is having some back problems as well . . . .

But the Seahawks are a good team, nonetheless.

As I have stated before it will not be a shocker to me if Vinny outright wins this job. I do think the ball is in Carter's court right now but it is going to come down to what it should come down to and that is performance

Is there anyway for all of us to hear this or a transcript?

I think as BP stated earlier, this could also come down to the play of our OL.

As several of the posters at Oxnard have pointed out, QC has a decent ability to avoid the rush. However, if our OL pass protection improves, Vinny's chances probably improve significantly. Otherwise, I think the odds favor QC significantly.

King really is such a googy guy. besides the things i think i think i think, he always has a few comments that just come off as pure spur of the moment guesswork. the comment about vinny playing this year - what is he really basing that on? his later comment that vinny is "letting it rip"??

not sure how this qualifies as journalism

Thanks for the great summary TB.

Yesterday on the NFL network they had "Patriots Day ( they had Cowboys in July), and they showed a lot of the late nineties annual review shows, plus the Pats 96 SB year. I had almost forgotten how devastating Bledsoe to Glenn deep was.

Now that Tuna has brought Key in, that frees Terry to play his game again, which is a deep game. I doubt Tuna will have much patience with any QB who can't exploit that weapon. I am more excited about seeing all the QBS throw to Terry deep than anything else.

I think the Comment "Let it rip" is a very important one...
Vinny KNOWS what he is doing and has the arm to do it....
Carter doesn't know what he is doing and his arm often fails him...

I would be shocked if Carter is our QB this year...

We need a real NFL QB to make our offense work and Vinny could make our offense very effective...

Vinny this year.
Hensen next...

You can listen to The Ticket online... they will talk a good bit of football among their schtick... D&M and Norm are the most prevalent in football talk...

Again then it would be performance, face it last year when Carter avoided the rush it was pretty common to see a poor pass or indecision to follow. If Carter improves in that area he clearly gives himself a better opportunity. Fact is even QB who are not fleet of foot can do avoid sacks by getting rid of the ball quicker. in a Ball control offense the last thing you can afford is having turnovers; this is not the Rams offense of the 90's who could put up 30 or 40 points in a game so our mistakes become critical

King said that Vinny apparently will be able to throw the high lingering deep ball til he is 56... he was amazed at Vinny's conditioning...

I think King was on the Hutch bandwagon too, so take it with a grain of salt.

You could be right about King on Hutches bandwagon. Myself I'm not on anyones bandwagon, after last season it was clear that our QB situation was still unresolved with the same question marks. If Carter can show vast improvement in his game then great but as I said I also would not be shocked if Vinny were to outright win the job. We will start seeing in the next few weeks where we are at QB as the pre-season games come

Well, I am going to be VERY disappointed if there is no deep ball option, and a consistent one.

I never bashed Gallowaste with one single solitary word during the season last year, tho I had to bite my lip to keep from doing so, and once our boys were on the golf course, I let her rip. Now Terry is going to get the chance to show his stuff. In an article on this board just posted, Tuna said he is hoping to provide one-on-one opportunites for TG. The QB, whoever, has got to get it to him.
