actually the player that benefitted most from the 4-6 originally was S Todd Bell, who had 4 picks and a ton of sacks for the Bears 84 playoff team...he was then involved in some major contract dispute and didnt play on the 85 championship team...davre Duerson took over for Bell in 1985 and made a few probowls I think

I think we finally have enough depth in the defensive line to go back to the old school 5-2 look.

I don't think anyone will argue that some 3-4 looks will be used. Nors just argues like no one believes him or just likes to get his post numbers up.

Ellis will be the key to improving the base 4-3 defense. He has to be able to beat one on one blocking from the right side to open up blitz lanes. This will also help with the 46 look.

I LOVE the fact that Parcells is taking over on D...

Zimmy has been way too easy, passive & predictable in the past...

Finally we have a man to take charge and knows how important it is to pressure a offense and confuse them or pressure them into mistakes & turnovers!

Nors makes good points and I love the idea of using more 4/6....But to me, the players that made that Bears system work was the LBers, Wilber Marshall & Otis Wilson...(With Singletary cleaning up)

I also think Parcells is smart enought to know Roy could be a HUGE weapon on D playing closer to the LOS and causing havouc!...But to make that work, we need a TRUE FS to be able to make plays in coverage...My money is on Davis vs Dixon in that role...

Could DOOMSDAY be returning?

I have to disagree with Zimmer being labled as only passive and predictable. The improvements in personnel have allowed him to be more aggressive last year and possibly even more this year. Bills presence certainly helps Zimmer, but having better talent provides more options.

I remember in the 2002 season against the Rams. At a critical part late in the game, Zimmer called for Roy to just blitz. It wasn't part of a package that they practiced, he just drew it up in the sand. It also worked as it freed up Ellis to get a sack.
