The drug issue kept Hawthorne from being drafted high. But that saved a ton of teams from wasting a pick on him.

The guy flat out sucks. But folks were really high on him about this time last year.

Yeah, I think he's a more talented Willie Blade. I you got to call their parents to get them play well. Move on.

1) Cowboys spent a lot of time with Spears at last years Senior Bowl.

2)Watson was voted 1st team All Big 10.

3) He's constantly doubled and still dominant and disruptive. Same guys saying he sucks here are the same guys saying Fergi SUCKS TOO! No clue on what a 3-4 NT is asked to do.

4) He is blowing up Senior Bowl and Dallas is interested.

The few games I saw Watson he played very good. Disruptive actually.

Yep, he is not a guy that is going to get you alot of sacks, which is not his job anyway, but a run stuffer and a 3 year letterman at Michigan that played against big time competition.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if this is your #18 pick folks. Which I would not mind if some Offensive Tackles slip into the 2nd Round.

Oh and Nors is right, dude had to be accounted for on every snap, was doubled constantly because of his size and strength and ability to set his own line of Scrimmage.

Okie dokie, then if someone on INternet who has infatuation with NE than Cowboys says so, I guess I got to go with him than what I saw on TV.

I guess Loyd Carr must be smoking something bad, to bench the Gabe Watson, as he couldn't see the talent they had on roster, even though all Gabe Watson had to do was hold his point of attack and not get sacks.

Like someone says, watch the games before saying what the guy did or not do. I am not trying to bash you here, but people go off on stats or physical measurements rather than production as shown on tape. Gabe Watson's label of underachiever has nothing to do with his stats or no sacks he didn't get. Its for the number of times he fails to show up and play with the same intensity every game.

But, then what do I know, I just go by what I see when I am watching games. I guess us Michigan fans hate the Michigan players

That would be a horrible move on our part to take him in the first. No way do I see Watson even close to being the BPA at 18.

With our first rounder we either need a playmaker or someone who can help solidify our OL.

Having a run stuffing NT is good, but I think there would be much better talent available at 18. I'd much rather go with the best OT (Justice, Winston, McNeil), LB or Holmes at WR.

I agree. Not advocating this, just stating I would not be surprised if this guy is our first pick.

I really hope we didn't drop $10MM on Ferguson last year only to use our first round pick the very following year to upgrade his exact same position. That would be almost like drafting a corner to play Henry's spot the year after giving him a ton of money... Yet no one advocates doing that.

People hate to hear it, but in the salary cap era you do draft at least somewhat for need. If we really need a NT already, the Fergy contract was a huge, huge mistake.

And even if it does turn out to be a mistake, surely we'll let this year play out before we decide that.

Hawthorne was also 1st team All Big 10....twice. He also had a very good Senior Bowl last year and didn't carry the rep as a guy who took plays off.

Watson's benching, apparent lack of motivation at times and the fact that MI fans are leery of him all have to be big red flags.

I agree, watching him at the sb he is pushing back the offensive players with ease...he is a beast. Bill can shape him and I would not mind that move at all.

I would cos he wouldn't start.

We need a starter in round 1... not a 'rotation' guy.

FS or LB.

Me thinks Michigan fans aren't breaking off Coach Lloyd Cars stones hard enough. Horrid coach that should be fired - years ago.
