You get 2 or 3 teams that does their homework and realize that he's an excellent 4-3 passrusher, they will give up atleast a 3.

Would be very happy with a 3rd but would more then settle for a 4th--to replace the one we traded to Eagles for Canty. And for those who think 4th round pick isn't worth anything, last year we drafted Marion Barber III with our pick in the 4th and traded our 5th rounder (and 4th in 06) to Eagles (31st pick) to select Chris Canty, so don't look down your nose at 4th round picks as there lot of good players we can still get there.

This post makes sense. Glover has pretty decent trade value, assuming that he resructures his contract. As to why Glover would agree to it....its pretty simple, if it happens it means he gets more money this year. I will admit though, with his high salary number this year, it might be tough to find someone willing to pony up that much up front money for a signing bonus. Glover can still play at a high level. We do not HAVE TO cut him.

I hope your right but there is a good possibility that Dallas will have to outright release him before his roster bonus is do in March. I don't dispute that Glover can still play he clearly can but teams around the league also understand this is about money not Glovers ability to play. FA and Salary cap changed a lot of things, in the past when none of this was even an issue Dallas may have just held on to Glover but now days a team has to think about a players salary and how it can effect the teams budget.

I share your concern, DOOMS, but I have to think he is too valuable to just let him walk, with no compensation.

His cap hit to us would not be the same as his cap hit to other teams under his current salary would it. What is his base salary and what is his signing bonus proration.

I mean, is it worth the 1.5 mill just so you could trade him later on.

Would Jerry pay 1.5 million for a 4th round pick?

I don't really know, but what is a draft pick worth?

We may not have much of a choice. Personally I think the best we can hope for is some team offering a late pick to keep Glover from becoming a FA but teams are not going to invest high draft picks for a player who is getting up there in age and know Dallas can't afford to keep him given his role with the team. We have seen other team in this same boat and they do what has to be done because it is part of managing the cap.

Glovers base salary is 4.5 million and you would have to trade him before the 1.5 mill bonus because you dont wanna pay 1.5 million then get rid of the guy (a 4th round pick is worth nowhere near that)

So the team trading would have to be willing to take on 6 million dollar hit AND THE LAST YEAR OF HIS CONTRACT

A team that really needs a tackle will give up a 5th so he won't hit the open market. Ellis will defintely bring in at leat a 3rd. Unlike Glover his contract is feasible. A 2nd round pick for Ellis is not unlikely either.

I follow the Boys regularly and, well, I am not convinced he or Ellis will be released. Why would they? the Cap? Screw that! All we need is a FS, RT, and a kicker and we are off to the races. Let Ellis and Glover be part of a kick-*** rotation like we had in the 90s.

I would rather have Glover but your "jock strap" comment is way over the top at this stage of the 2 player's careers. At the end of the day Glover fate will be the the same as Simon's was in Philly- he will be released. Glover has no incentive at all to restructure unless he a) really wants to be here and b) we assure him he will. When you consider he's really ill suited to be a 3-4 NT why would this be the case for him or us?

Glover has been a great player for us but it's best for both sides to move on. It's only logical he will refuse to restructure because he has to figure they'll be teams lining up to pay him. It's NFL 101.

of course, they would fail the section on their homework that told them that we are going to have to release Glover b/c of his contract and when his roster bonus is due (prior to the end of the trading moratorium).

Glover is a team player and a leader. Simon is not. Let me know when Scouts Inc starts to take that into account.

Maybe we can trade Glover, Coakley and Reshard Lee and get a 3rd...
