2/2/1990 The Day that spawned a dynasty!
The Herschel Walker trade, one of the biggest deals in NFL history, is completed with the Minnesota Vikings.
Little know fact. It was on one of the coach's daily lunchtime jogs, that OL coach Tony Wise first proposed the idea.

LOL........
Depending on the geography, he's either revered as a god or hung in effigy.

February 1990, the Cowboys traded their 3rd and 10th round picks and their 1991 3rd rounder to the Vikings so that they could keep the 3 remaining roster players and all of the conditional draft picks.

That was the completion of the trade.
Mike Lynn thought Jimmah would keep the roster players instead of the draft picks.
The actual trade was commenced in October/November of 1989.

And as hard as it is to believe, some Dallas media types, and national media types, panned the trade because the Cowboys were giving up their only true superstar.
They were calling Jerry and Jimmy hicks because they got played by the Vikings and that players-for-picks trade, thinking that the Cowboys would keep the players and not the picks.

Well, the Vikings also got Walker.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

The funny thing is,Walker did not look the same
playing for Minn. In fact, they got hosed.Too funny.
Even after he left the Vikes,he played very well again.

Traded Butch Johnson, (remeber him the little woose with the six shooter bit) to (I think) denver for a 5th round pic. We used that pic to draft HW. You could consider that the greatest C-boy trade of all time.
