Default Cowboys looking for another backup blocking TE, Kyle Turley anyone?

The Cowboys are looking for another Dan Campbell type. I don't see how you can get much better than a player who used to be one of the best tackles in the league. He claims to be healthy and that the Rams didn't initially treat his injury right. I don't see how the Cowboys could lose much by just bringing him in for a tryout and if they like what they see, a contract at the vet minimum with no signing bonus. If Turley still has something, it's better than relying on practice squad players. Heck, we may not fix the offensive line in one year but it sure will help having a guy like this leading the way for Julius and Marion.

The explosive Kyle Turley is hoping to make a comeback in the NFL though at a different position. After spending the bulk of his career with the New Orleans Saints, Turley is presently training with Athletes Performance in Carson, Calif. Sources here in Mobile have told us Turley is looking fit and trim and hoping to get a camp invite this summer as a tight end.

Sounds like something we should look into.
You can't get the knowledge from a player who is in the trenches transferred to a TE that quickly.
Most times it is the TE to T in position movement.

I'm pretty sure Turley was on the juice. He's slimmed up because he got off the juice trying to save his career after the injuries and anger problems. I think he's a lost cause as a football player.

If he wanted to come to camp and try out with no real guarantees, I'd be OK with that.

Any team offering more than that would be silly.

Was he ever mentioned with those Carolina Panthers, Barry Bonds types who were using the new undetectable substance?

You can probably rephrase that to "I'm pretty sure all NFL players are on juice ...".

It is what it is. Nothing to be ashamed of.

He lost a lot of weight, I mean A LOT, in a very short period of time.

Regardless of how good he was in the past, this should be big enough of a concern to say no.

I would have no problem with bringing him in for a look. As a TE he would be excellent as he is an outstanding athlete and with the weight loss he should be even quicker. He is no longer a viable option as an OL but as a blocking TE he should be very good.

No big contract though unless it was incentive laden and even then he isn't going to be paid like an OT but as a siutational player.
Captain Nathan Brittles: "Only the man who commands can be blamed. It rests on me... mission failure!"

"Jerry Jones is a billionaire fan who bought his own team for the express purpose of buying his way into the game. He wants to hang out with the players, stand in front of the cameras, be the face of the team (yech), make personnel moves as if this were a video game, and more than anything else, be seen as the guy who made it all happen."

Why would you want Turley over, say, an undrafted FA tight end who doesn't have a body that is completely ruined?

Actually, it *is* something to be ashamed of. You know, because it's dangerous, gives an unfair advantage, and is illegal.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Not that I know of, but I do know a family member of his who says he did do roids.
