Default Manny Lawson Vs. Bobby Carpenter

If both guys fell to us witch one would you want?

The more research i do on them i find that Carpenter would be more of a SOLB and Lawson would be a clone of Demarcus with good pass rushing skills. So who??

I wouldn't unhappy with either, but I think Carpenter will contribute sooner.

I would say Lawson becasue he looks to have more upside physically. Both look like fine football players though. I would love to have both Ware and Lawson blitzing on the same play opposite sides. We could move Ware to SOLB I bet.

Either would be great, but you might want to add Wimberly to the poll. He is slowly creeping up Kipers board, even ahead of both your pollsters.

Bobby Carpenter
Height: 6-3 | Weight: 255 | 40-Time: 4.58

Official Bio

Strengths:
Has excellent size...Is very fast and athletic...Has great instincts...Is very natural and does an excellent job in coverage...Does a nice job of filling against the run...Flies to the ball and makes plays sideline-to-sideline...Tremendous pass rusher and blitzer...Tough as nails and a true football player...Tenacious and has a great motor...Versatile player...Very productive and has a lot of experience.

Weaknesses:
Has some trouble shedding blocks...Is not the surest tackler...Was surrounded by a lot of talent which alleviated pressure and didn't allow the opposition to focus only on him...Can be too aggressive at times...Might not be quite as athletic as his computer numbers would lead you to believe...Needs to use his hands better.

Notes:
Father Rob played for the New York Giants...Saw some action at defensive end for the Buckeyes...Was overshadowed by A.J. Hawk but this guy is a top prospect in his own right...A great strongside linebacker who could also be an impact player in a 3-4 pass rushing role as well...One of the most underrated players in the draft.

Manny Lawson

Defensive End | Senior | North Carolina St.
Height: 6-6 | Weight: 245 | 40-Time: 4.59

Official Bio

Strengths:
An amazing athlete with rare ability...Has outstanding speed and quickness with a great burst...Extremely explosive...Tremendous pass rusher off the edge...Good agility and can drop into coverage...Smart player with good instincts...Good tackler...Makes plays in space...Productive and can be very disruptive...Vertical jump is higher than the device used to measure that stat...Has a lot of upside.

Weaknesses:
Vastly undersized...A DE / OLB 'tweener who may not have a clear position at the pro level...Struggles to defend the run...Needs to get stronger...Gets engulfed by massive offensive tackles...Doesn't always play with good leverage...Needs to use his hands better...Is he just a workout warrior?...Relies on speed heavily...Won't be a fit for every team and will need to be in the right system to succeed.

Notes:
Competed as a hurdler, long jumper, triple jumper and relay runner for the Wolfpack track team...The prevalence of the 3-4 defense in the NFL will likely help Lawson's case as he would seem to be a prototypical OLB is that scheme.

Kamerion Wimbley
Height: 6-4 | Weight: 255 | 40-Time: 4.65

Official Bio

Strengths:
Tremendous natural athlete...Fast and very quick with a burst...Can wreak havoc rushing the passer off the edge...Does an excellent job in pursuit and can close on the ball...Changes directions well...Very productive and stood out on a talented defense...Team player with top intangibles...Is also an excellent special teams prospect...Still has a lot of upside and has not yet reached his full potential.

Weaknesses:
Undersized and lacks bulk...Needs to hit the weight room and get stronger...May have to change positions at the next level...Does not hold up at the point of attack...A liability against the run...Struggles to shed blockers...Is basically a one trick pony who relies solely on his speed...Needs to work on technique and make better use of his hands...May only be a situational player in the pro ranks.

Notes:
Could be a 3-4 outside linebacker...Entered college at only 210 lbs so he has done a good job of adding weight and has the frame to get bigger still...A classic 'tweener who a team will need to find the right role for...At the very least he should excel as a situational pass rusher and he could easily be a lot more.

For one of Lawsons weaknesses it says hes vastly under sized...I guess that means for a DE because he is just as ig or bigger than demarcus.
