Default No Irvin yet?!?!?!

With the approximately 9,674,592 columns & sportstalk discussions of the TO signing over the past 2 days, I can't believe we haven't seen or heard from Michael Irvin yet!!

Anyone "in the know" with the Boys (c'mon, there are some of you lurkers out there who have contacts) know whether Jerruh is planning some sort of official TO welcome with Michael?

I just find it astounding that the biggest cheerleader for this move over the past few months hasn't weighed in yet--& with TV cameras at the ready, no less!

"Great deal for the Cowboys on many fronts," Irvin said. "You have to think about what T.O. brings on the practice field. On the practice field, he's a phenomenal practice guy. He goes out every day and he puts in everything."

Irvin, who is good friends with Owens, said he didn't have to make a sales pitch to Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones.

"Jerry's a smart football man," Irvin said. "He knows what he needed, and he went out and got him and I've got to commend him for that."

Irvin and Bledsoe said Owens should improve the Cowboys' entire offense, which finished 13th last season (325.1). Owens' presence should reduce double teams on receiver Terry Glenn and create more space for tight end Jason Witten and running back Julius Jones to operate.

"In order for the Cowboys to get where they need to get, they need a pure No. 1 receiver, and that's what this guy is," Irvin said. "When Drew drops back three, five and seven (yards), he will get open. And the times he's not open, throw it anyway because he can still get it."

Suprising indeed.

I think that Irvin has finally gotten back at the Eagles for his injury at the Vet. It was his comments about Farve and the Eagles that triggered the whole mess. And now he has succesfully lobbied for TO and Dallas.

I mentioned this in a another thread. Dan Patrick said Michael was in negotiations with ESPN on a new contract. Dan said Michael didn't want to come on Dan's radio show until he got his contract finished. He is keeping pretty quiet until it is done.

There is another quote somewhere around this forum where Irvin said something like, "Ok...I'll say it...this puts the Cowboys in the SuperBowl..."

Well that makes some sense. I mean, c'mon, this is Michael. Two or three sentences in a newspaper column won't cut it. I figured he'd be on every tv broadcast in the western hemisphere, but negotiating a new contract makes sense.

Hmmm, let's see..."My good buddy TO would looove to do an interview with me for 'Sportscenter'--IF you give me a new contract. And he'll be happy to do interviews with me all season long, too." Sounds like good leveraging to me!

Its ironic that you post this, because all along we have speculated which Cowboy could handle T.O. in the locker room. I don't think it is that easy. This thing will be controlled by Michael Irvin.
