A couple years ago I thought that Mayock was a tool. But I watched the guys he liked versus the highly rated ones that he didn't. Then last year I kept the same eye.

The guy is really pretty good. His analysis is more from tape than workouts which is always better in my view. He's particularly good at judging defensive players. Being a DB himself, he does the best job of any services at detailing DBs. He does OK with linemen, but he tends to just fall in line. He favors bigger power backs over smaller faster guys (but not to a point that he'll drop an obvious talent). He's always been a little off on his grading of QBs. He had Rivers ahead of Eli two years ago. Last year the QB crop sucked but he did have Smith as #1.

I appreciate Mayock's view. He doesn't present well, but if you know his tendancies and adjust accordingly, he's a good source.

Unless I missed it, did he totally leave Jimmy Williams out of his rankings?

If I recall correctly, Mayock took him off his board due to his attitude and issues. Essentially MM thinks that Williams will be the next coming of Lawrence Phillips.
