If we are looking to make a run at the Superbowl this year, is there a player worth moving up to get, even if it costs us a high pick next year in addition to our #18 slot this year?

Nah, I'd hate to see that happen. We just need to stop throwing our picks away especially since Jeff Ireland has done such a great job finding players for us. TRUST in Jeff!

a SuperBowl run? Are you serious? I mean...yes, anything can happen, but I wouldn't exactly say we are one of the elite teams in the NFL based on signing Kozier, Fabini, Adele, and Owens.

I'll be happy if we go 9-7...I'll be thrilled if we go 10-6 and make the playoffs...I'll stop hoping Parcells retires if we actually win a playoff game this year.

To answer your question, there may be players we are willing to part with a draft pick to get if it only requires moving a little here or there, and I have no problem with it, but there's no one in this year's draft who would make us a SB team. I feel much more confident that we'll move down in round 1 when the time comes.

Who is worth our 18th this year and a high draft pick next year? I'm with WM, I would rather trade down than trade up.

I really believe that if we can solidify our OL we can be the best team in the NFC. I was thinking along the lines of going after "Da'Brick". Whether he's a backup or can start, he, along with Petitti, give us two young, quality backups to help us ride out injuries that might come up. Keeping the OL solid is, IMO, more important that a FS or OLB at this point. Our D was good last year, and with added experience in the 3-4 will be even better this year. It all starts on the OL this year. Give Bledsoe enough time to find his receivers ... block for the running game ... allow Witten to get out there and make plays instead of having to stay back and block. Getting Da'Brick would allow us to do all of that even if the injury bug hits us, and at the same time we'll be investing in youth.

There are no elite teams in the NFL anymore. That went with the salary cap. The overall talent level difference between the top 10-12 teams is pretty small. Each of them has a great one- a Brady, Peppers, etc. And several very good ones. But no one can afford in this day of the cap to put together an elite team. We are right there in the mix (even have the great one now -TO).
We have to areas of concern- FS and O line. If we improve seriously on those two areas this coming season we have as good a chance as anyone at the SB.

So true.

To me people are still comparing our team with the teams that were build pre-salary cup. Nowadays no team is good a every position.

When i look at the last season, we were making a strong run at the playoffs and were good enough to beat anybody in the NFC before Flozell went down.

Flo is back, we have more depth and got better at min. 3 positions (ILB, RT, WR). Maybe in the draft we get 1-2 more starters. So why not considers us as a contender?

Some people hype other teams (Redskins, Panthers, NYG etc...). I don't see them beeing so much better then us!

If I was going to move up the only three players I'd trade up for with our current roster are Reggie Bush, D'Brick or Mario Williams...they are easily the three most talented, most dominant players in this draft and all 3 could be considered super blue chip prospects that come out once every 5-10 yrs...we really dont need a RB, but Bush is such an overwhelming, dominant game changing player that he would be worth it...D'Brick is good enough right now that he could start at LT for us immediately and allow us to move Adams to RT...Williams is a better DE prospect than Julius Peppers was and fits any scheme...we'd have to sacrifice a ton to move into position to get one of these guys, but potentially each would be worth it

that said, I highly doubt we'll be making any move upward in this draft...niether Jones nor Parcells has any history of making THIS kind of sacrifice in draft picks to get one guy...we moved up alot when Jimmy was here, but most of those moves were up a few spots, not 18-1/2/3 type moves

BS We would have been 12-4 or 13-3 with a better kicker. We are one of the elite teams, because there is NO elite team in today's NFL. We're in the top third and that's all it takes.

and I'd say b/s on that...12-4 or 13-3 with the way we played last yr would have been a total smoke and mirrors job..we'd have got whacked badly in the postseason, especially if we had to go to Seattle again

12-4/ 13-3 teams dont struggle down after down to gain 1 or 2 yds rushing the football and dont get their QB mauled every other drop back...there were alot of reasons this team finished 9-7 last yr, kicker wasnt the sole reason...blaming the kicker is an easy thing to do, but the defense blew winnable games against Washington and Seattle, and nearly blew wins vs KC and NYG...also in the first Washington loss, the offense had the ball with plenty of time left and the ball on the Washignton side of the field needing only a FG to win, and we couldnt net a single first down

Trade out all together and collect more picks in next years first and second then trade up next year for Brady Quinn
