Personally I prefer BPA that fills a need which fits Carpenter to a tee.

Check out Gil Brandt's list of OLBs.
1 A.J. Hawk
2 Ernie Sims
3 Chad Greenway
4 DeMeco Ryans
5 Roger McIntosh
Wild Cards:
Bobby Carpenter
Thomas Howard
Pat Kirwan's list of OLBs
1. A.J. Hawk -- Round 1
2. Ernie Sims -- Round 1
3. Manny Lawson -- Round 1
4. Kamerion Wimbley -- Round 1
5. Chad Greenway -- Round 1
6. DeMeco Ryans -- Round 1
7. Bobby Carpenter -- Round 2
8. Thomas Howard -- Round 2
9. Jon Alston -- Round 2
10. Roger McIntosh -- Round 3
Mayock's List of OLBs:
1. A.J. Hawk, Ohio State
2. Ernie Sims, Florida State
3. Chad Greenway, Iowa
4. Kamerion Wimbley, Florida State (OLB)
5. D'Qwell Jackson, Maryland
6. Rocky McIntosh, Miami (Fla.)
7. DeMeco Ryans, Alabama
8. Bobby Carpenter, Ohio State
It's not uncommon for Carpenter to be listed this low. I don't think he's a second round pick, but I do think it's a reach at #18. I think the Carp-love around here has perhaps exaggerated his talents just a tad.

I agree. I would not mind seeing Dallas get either guy but it is starting to get funny around here as people are trying to push their guy as the one we have to take and knock the other player as not worthy of the pick.

Monday? I think Saturday 5 seconds after the pick is announced.
So glad I won't see it.

I only said Monday because I'm not going to bother coming to this site on draft day.

Good Hunting ...or Tally-Ho! ( Hunt cry "the prey has been sighted") " Tallio, Hoix, Hark, Forward,"
which is a corruption of the French hunter's call. Four hundred years ago the French hunter encouraged his dogs with the musical cry of "Thia-hilaud a qui forheur!" sometimes printed "Tya-hillaut a qui forheur!" From this the English manufactured "Tallio, hoix, hark, forward."

Really it's all about the system the player is put whether is a QB or a OLB, so again if we are indeed sticking with a 3-4 defense then draft a player that really suits that!!

That's my main reservation about him. I think he's likely a reach at 18. The deal is that based on some of the teams below us, like NE and SF, who both may want a LB, he'll probably go higher than he's ranked.
The question is whether he's the best player for us at 18. Even if he's our top LB at that point, we need to look at the other positions as well. It comes down to whether we want the best player available, or the best linebacker available.

Bingo Inman. Wouldnt Howard at say 29 in a trade down and adding a pick be more valuable than Carpenter @ 18?
How about Gocong,Hawkins,Mark Anderson,Mcclover and some others? Is there that big a difference from Carpenter than those guys? I love Carpenter but not at 18. I would rather go in another direction.
Wouldnt drafting a guy ahead of your rankings indicate a "reach"? Whose to say these rankings arent very close to teams' boards?
Merriman may have been the top rated guy and he may have been on the Boys board but he had these certain guys...you know....the Postons representing him. The Cowboys dont deal with the Postons.
