USC did play horrendously on defense in that game.

Will he be a good NFL QB? Time will tell, however he wont come in like Big Ben and be great early.

They(Houston) should just re-draft Hakeem Olajuwan. Leave MJ and Bowie on the board again.

It was reported by John Clayton on the draft special and PFT weeks ago. Keep up

I do agree that it will probably take a year or 2 for Vince to be ready to play but in regards to Big Ben, he was very lucky to come into a situation where he had a fantastic run game and only had to pass 12-18 times a game. Pitt made it very easy for him and most rookie QBs aren't so lucky so it takes them much longer to adjust to the NFL

Bottom line to be an NFL QB you have to be able to read defenses and pass really well. Now lets make the assumption that Vince makes that transition just fine.

Now unless it is 3rd and 20 or third and 30, Vince Young will be able to pick the D apart with his arm, move around behind the line of scrimmage buying time and hit someone wide open downfield or take off and get 5-10 yards easily for the first down.

It is NOT about running for 100 yards in a game, it is about buying time with your mobility or taking off on third down to get the nail in the coffin first down.
Where some people come up with this stuff is amazing.

Great post GB!

Time will tell. I am not sold one way or the other, but I can see how a team would take a chance on him.

If he busts, a bust is a bust is a bust. It happens. As a matter of fact happens every year in the top 10 multiple times.

If Vince Young hits then watch out, the upside on him is IMO bigger than that of any player in this draft.

The question is who will the Texans draft with the first pick of the draft next year? They gave away picks to draft for 3-4 last year, hire Kubiak to fix the offense and then change to 4-3 and draft a defensive end with the first pick. Hard to believe the Texans could figure out the only way to get Kubiak boo'ed in his first game and do it.
Maybe they will trade Mario to the Jets and then take DBrickshaw Ferguson which is who they should pick if not Bush/Young.

Not to mention the Houston Chronicle bashing them for trying to trade it

Hey don't laugh he isn't the worst........oh wait.......maybe he is.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

I'll disagree on this one. His mechanics aren't that bad or he would not have lead the nation in passing effeciency. He is without a doubt a better talent than McChunky or Culpantless were coming out of college.

Newsflash: Vince Young is an accurate passer.

He led the nation is passing efficiency because something like 64% of his passes were to the TE and RBs

Texas ran an offense that allowed him to be successful using his athletic ability, not his passing ability. He threw about 2 passes of 25 yards or more per game this season, not very many
