The Sky is Falling
Ah yes, tis the season for Cowboy fans to come out of the woodwork proclaiming to know more than the braintrust of JJ, Parcells, and Ireland.
Fact of the matter is, we could have somehow landed Ferguson in round one, Leinart in round two, and Michael Huff in round three and people here would be b&m'ing about something.
Ireland is a scout for a reason. None of you are, for a reason.
Maybe, Ireland knows his stuff.
Maybe, we don't know as much as we think we do.
They look at gametypes, interview players, conduct workout.
We read reports.
Do the math.
Carpenter fits our 3-4. Fasano gives us the second TE we need for 2 TE sets, which apparently, we are now running.
Hatcher? Well, I haven't heard of him before today. But from what I keep hearing, he sounds like a solid pickup.
Ireland and Parcells have seen more tape of Hatcher than any of us. Yet, most here proclaim it to be a bad pick.
Good think you all watched the same amount of tape they did.
I am not saying Parcells, Jones, and Ireland are above criticism. They aren't. But maybe, just maybe, they know more than us.

Good post and I agree with everything you're saying...
All of sudden all these coach potatos know more about football than the guys that do this type of thing for a living...
Who heard of Ratliff last year?
Who heard of Ware before last year?

Not sure if you guys have noticed, but the sky fell about 10 years ago ... and we still haven't gotten out from under it yet.

Every move the Cowboys ever make, is going to have a variety of responses. You are going to have the sky is falling crowd counterbalanced by the ultimate homers. The ultimate homers will accuse the sky is falling crowd of being pessimists while the sky is falling crowd will accuse the ultimate homers of not being able to criticize anything. Finally, you'll have the mediators trying to balance both sides.
I personally enjoy it as it gives the board character.

You're right. Leave it to the experts.
Those experts were sure amazing drafting our 1994-2003 classes. Us couch potatos can't do better.

Given that was under a different regime, your point is irrelevant.

Over the course of the entire Dallas Cowboys history, I am willing to bet our "experts" would rate out as better drafters than anyone else on the board.

oh hush eddie. we must be stupid and "quiet" followers of the sport cause we're "unworthy" to discuss our teams moves. we should sit here and go RA on queue and drink expensive warm beer to wash down the stale nachos and buy a TO bobblehead on the way out cause they're smart!

no it isn't as time proved it that way. times proven NOTHING here so how can you smug around and already be brave enough to say they got it right - you know, cause they're smart and all.

Truth be told, Dallas had a nice first day draft, that should be the consensus nation wide.
Besides, there are plenty of FSs and Olineman to be had tomorrow, Dallas even landed extra picks to make sure needs get adressed. Cowboys now have a total 6 picks for the second day up from just 3.
And if all the needs don't get adressed, Jerry has already made mention of signing more players after June 1st.
Dallas is clearly trying to make a run this year. Fasano and Carpenter only futher prove that theory.

This thread is exactly what I was talking about.
In the end I just hope the optimists are closer to being right then the pessimists.

Absolutely not. What difference does a regime mean ... if we're not allowed to question???
I'm sure you guys were saying the same things when Lacewell was running things ... for us coach potatos to stop complaining and leave it to the experts.
If that's the case, let's all celebrate this wonderful draft and sing praises to Jerry Jones for these amazing 9 seasons without a playoff win.
