Uhm, ok. Keep telling yourself that when you see Roy/davis getting burned in pass coverage over and over again like last year. If we had a decent free safety, we wouldnt have lost to the skins early last year.

Hey man, Bill, Jerry, and Ireland agree with me (or rather I agree with them). Jerry stated from day 1 that we weren't taking a FS high. It was never a priority. Outside of a few games Roy/Davis weren't getting burned.

In order to play an attack style defense you need bodies, you cant expect the starters to play 80% of the snaps and be fresh at the end of games when it matters most. Dallas' defense has really worn down late in the season the past few years, this pick along with last seasons should help. Hopefully Hatcher will be able to get some snaps and add depth to an already solid group of DEs.

A STUD OSU linebacker. A tough receiving TE (he won't block like Dan but he can learn...it's just too bad he went to Notre Dame, ha ha Rack), and a versatile 3-4 suited lineman, albeit a project...

I've seen far worse first day drafts.

Like all of 'em, the jury's out for a few years..but all of the picks looked like value at the position, as well as addressing need.

Props to the braintrust.

Nothing wrong with the guys we got, but we didnt fill our biggest needs.
FS while not completely settled, is NOT a HUGE need.

Keith Davis while not a great player is a decent player. And we did sign Marcus Coleman in FA, and once again he is a solid player.

And while drafting an OL would not hurt, and I am sure that we will draft one eventually today, but we are not in terrible shape on the OL with Adams back at LT, and Petitti and Fabini fighting for the RT spot.

Your opinions listed above are as valid as anyone else's regarding the guys we didn't take...however, while I'm willing to wait and see, and trust the braintrust, there's no way I'd call our draft GREAT, nor do I think anyone in his right mind would expect any draft grades given after today to show us with anything better than a C+.

Hopefully, the players will all work out and be better than most people thought they'd be. I don't see taking a DE on day 1 when you already have guys like Canty and Spears manning the position...I don't see using your 2nd round pick on a TE unless you think he's going to be even better than the probowler you already have from round 3...need or no need. OL is also a need...so is WR...so is QB, imo, and so is NT depth.

These players may all be solid, but I would never call it a GREAT DRAFT.

Heck, if we land 5 starters on Sunday, then we can call it a Great Draft.

For now, it's a questionable draft at best.

Every draft is questionable, untill these guys get on the field and show that they can play.

We had a great draft last year after a lot of subpar drafts. The jury is still out on this one. I don't see one impact player, for next year, that has been taken just yet.

I think they are also. Even if they picked an OL. And he wasn't one of the 'name' picks. This board would still have gone crazy with criticism.

Carpenter is a solid player, and will be more of an impact than people think. Evryone labels him a 'solid' or a 'safe pick. I think he will be a 'difference' maker and help the defense tremendously, even though you may not notice it immediately on the field. Same with Fasano on the offensive side. It's the little things they help in, that may go unoticed at first.

Hatcher provides depth and could be an eventual replacememt for Ellis. Eventhough I am somewhat confused as everyone else. When you really think about this, it makes sense with what they did so far. Not sure about the WR Green. But now they just announced Watkins at S, now that is good value.
