Random Thoughts..
1. Bye Bye Justin Beriault.. which kinda makes me sad, I think he has real potential.. but I dont think we keep more than 4 safeties (Roy, Watkins, Coleman, Davis)
2. Bye Bye Lousaka Polite.. we are keeping 4 tight ends and three running backs.. I dont think we keep a fullback.. Spears or Hannam can play short yardage fullback..
3. Pat Watkins needs to find a new number.. Cause there is no way we will give him Emmitt's #22..
4. We have a lot of defensive linemen.. Ferguson, Spears, Ellis, Canty, and Hatcher are keepers.. After that, who knows.. But we have a lot of them..
5. Parcells is very satisfied with our OL..
6. I hated the Fasano pick at first, but I have completely warmed up to it.. I now really like the 2 TE idea..
7. I love our WR corps.. TO, Glenn, Crayton, Green.. It's the best we've had in years.. Add to that Witten and Fasano.. Very nice..

Unless he hasn't recovered from his injury, I disagree. The younger players stay, the one year vet minimum guy goes.

so you think that on opening day we start either a rookie, the guy that we have been trying to replace all offseason, or a 2nd year guy coming off an injury that caused him to miss all of last year?

Agreed. This has been a very solid draft for the Cowboys given that they are picking towards the end of every round. No sexy picks. No horrendous reaches. Just continuing to slowly accumulate more talent, step by step, year by year. As time progresses, the more impressed I am with Jeff Ireland and the scouting department.

Yup. That's how it works in today's NFL. Young cheap players with extended contracts. Coleman isn't all that. Pretty washed up if you ask me. A 30+ year old player with alcohol problems is as good as cut.

Yep, or we deal Davis , Beriault has too much upside and is cheap.

Hey, why not, when 1(Davis) is a special teams ace and at least another(Beriault) may be a ST ace when healthy. I would think Watkins will spend a lot of time STs too.
Although if a specialty kick-off only guy is brought in it would certainly diminish the chances of keeping an extra safety.

Coleman will be the starter with Davis or Watkins backing up. Pile and Berry-0 are probably gone.

agreed.. which really does make me a little sad.. i saw potential in both of them, especially Beriault.. BUT.. this is a good problem to have.. maybe, just maybe, Beriault goes to practice squad and doesnt get picked up.. then he backs up Watkins next year..

Looks like you went 7 for 7 on that post.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

if the coaching staff really believe that watkins can take over the starting role by the middle of the year, then my guess is we start roy and davis and end up with roy and watkins. this can make coleman expendable. my guess is that they picked up coleman as an insurance policy so they would not have to reach. now that we have a legit FS prospect like watkins, coleman may not be around by the start of the season if watkins shows he can handle it in TC and pre-season.

And Coleman received very little signing bonus so he can be cut easily.
