Vikings snatch up Ross after Saints cut him

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Cornerback Derek Ross, who tied for the NFL rookie lead in interceptions two years ago , was signed on Tuesday by the Minnesota Vikings.
New Orleans was the latest team to waive Ross, a third-round pick by Dallas in 2002. Ross started nine games that season and had five interceptions. He also returned kicks.
The Saints let the former Ohio State player go after he missed a plane and failed to report on time.
He was released by Dallas in December and was signed by Atlanta, where he played two games.
Brian Williams, one of Minnesota's starting cornerbacks, has a sprained knee and may not play in the Sept. 12 opener.

He is an idiot who will probably bring his minor career to a screeching halt because no one can trust him...however, he doesn't get beaten on the field very often.

He's a street player. Actually he had FS ball hawking skills - but he has a 10 cent brain. Too bad he squandered the talent.

Well... many proclaimed BP to be an idiot by making an example of him...
I'm glad BP is running the team, personally...

For those of us at home.......does New Orleans officially count or not.
Just wondering if this makes his 3rd or 4th team?
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

New Orleans would count because they added him to the roster even if it was for one day.

I think Dale told me one time that Ross and AB were friends. Might be a fun matchup to watch. Especially if they really go at it. I bet there will be some jawing.

I for one questioned the release of Ross last season especially in light of our RCB situation this season. I knew we didn't have his type of talent on the roster. However, I was not privy to the immature antics that Ross displays. I think he is a talent and would have been 2nd only to TNew on the roster talentwise at the CB position but he is too much of a hassle. I hope he gets himself together but in hindsight his release was a smart move. My apologies Coach Parcells for questioning your judgment.

I doubt if he gets any playing time (ross)...probably depth at this point...but who knows maybe he will be the nickle guy.
