John Clayton Deadwood Thread

Awesome episode last night. Two highlights:

1. Discussion of gratis versus "free" was hysterical.

2. How about EB's sillioquies last night? "That gutter-mouth b**** going up to see the death-sick sky-high widow - a conversation for the ages!"

BTW, Calamity Jane has become one of my favorite characters. The language is overboard at times, but this character absolutely slays me with her use of offensive language.

Calamity is becoming my fav as well...EBs lines were funny but it made me laugh even more when she retorts to him.

Also we find out that Powers Booth's character is not at all intimidated by Swearenger and actually has a very nasty streak himself.

I think her language is legit...maybe not to the degree in which it's portrayed, but certainly she felt the need to overcompensate with language.

The show needs more Seth Bullock. Timothy Olyphant is going to be a star, IMO.

:p The shock value must have worn out as I really did not notice it as much on the last episode.

Oh btw I did some research on Calamity Jane....and I guess she was a foul mouthed woman...but she also saved a General's life while she served as a scout in the Calvary.

I was surprised to find out the characters were based on real people. How accurate who knows for sure.

And the CS word wasn't a noticable this time. Swearengen wasn't going off on a tirade.

It is really cool...it is in her own words...no cussing in this one...but it tells of stuff from before deadwood to after deadwood.

Also has a few pictures....one of her, one of wild bill, one of the town of deadwood.
Also says that the man who killed wild bill escaped but later was caught and hung...not like in the show it appears.

Here is a link that is talking about her....it says it is from Wild Bill's words about her...

http://www.cowgirls.com/dream/cowgals/calamity.htm

At the top of that last page it also says that she was buried to Wild Bill in deadwood.

There is another thread I put out...Wild West links...that has some good info about some of the other members of the wild west....Doc Holiday was a very interesting read...and in the movie Tombstone when he was dying he Said "Why this is funny"...and apparently he actually did say that before dying...but he said it after drinking some whiskey.

Very good episode last last night. I will have to remember to watch it again. As usual Jane was hilarious especially with Charlie at Wild Bill's grave. The Bullock-Swearengen conflict should get very interesting soon. The two kids are going to be interesting. Did I hear them right when they said the should have a good score between the two casinos?

oh Btw the CS count was 6

Yes about the kids....seems they are grifters/swindlers.

Very good Show last night IMO.

I think that was a Love Blooms episode last night.

Bullock and Garrett Woman seem to like each other.
Bullocks Friend seemed a little sweet on Trixie
And the guy that works for Swearengen (with long hair) seems sweet on the young girl.

Also the guy that was left out in the woods to die....well look for trouble from him.

Man, this series has really pulled me in. The dialog is one of the most well-written scripts I have ever seen unfold. I love E.B.'s silliloquies. It's almost like watching a Shakespearean play.

I have a feeling that the Reverend is carrying around an awful secret from his past.

I am truly mezmorized by just about every character in this series.
