For those of you who thought the playcalling...
....some of us posted comments on here about the playcalling at the jag's game how it stunk, and some of you posted saying that the playcalling was not the problem, well obviously you can tell that the playcalling was different
in this game....i'm not saying that it made the difference in the outcome of the game, just that it was different and much better, I'm sure Soprano heard it around the league and maybe from parcells I'm not sure...cowboys were
more aggressive going downtown a lot earlier which is good, for a while I thought we were going to go way conservative when we were up until they ran that 100 yarder on us, im glad they did, that way our offense and
cordinator can wake up and get more aggressive, I stilll question our team for putting teams away when we are ahead, I think the Defense heard that call and said..."let's put them away" very proud of them...
Saying that the Playcalling was not an issue in the last game is baloney, trying to put all the blame on the players is not right, yes they were at fault, but the coaches still have a part to play in the game don't forget that...out.

Was it the play calling or just better execution. Probably both. But I did notice I wasn't 2nd guessing on some calls like I did in the 1st game.
Kudos to the OL, good run blocking and pass protection.

Saying the playcalling WAS a big issue is baloney as well - we, as fans, cannot oversimplify things like that.
First, we aren't privvy to exactly how many plays were designed to go "downtown" but didn't happen because of good coverage, pressure on the QB or other factors (by the way, Bledsoe said after the Jacksonville game there were other plays that were called to go deep but didn't go as planned).
And we don't know how much the defensive scheme of the Jags had to do with the different play calling - it isn't apples to apples from week to week.
And what about execution ...... does that have anything to do with it? Our run blocking was clearly better against Washington - that has to factor in.
What about missed blocks and missed assignments - do we know how we fared in that area in the Jags game compared to the Skins game?
The fact is there are a lot of factors that go into the success/failure of an offense, and play calling is only one of those factors and cannot be viewed separately from the others.
Perhaps the play calling was better in the Skins game, but to suggest it's as black and white as all that is just plain false.

The playcalling against Jacksonville was great on the next two drives. They did get conservative at one point but that was because Bledsoe was getting jumpy.

Executions was the big factor and allows a team to do more in terms of playcalling when you do execute. Dallas still ran the ball 3rd and 1 and we ran the ball down by the goal line 4 stright times with Barber. Differance is we win and now all of us sudden it was the play calling? give me a break

Funny thing about play calling from fans' point of view.
When a play doesnt work theres a certain percentage of fans that think it was a bad play call and a certain amount that thought it was ok cause not everything always works.
When a play does work then nobody thinks it was a bad play call.
Kinda like when it's 4th and inches with the game on the line inside the opponents 20. The accepted play call there would be a QB sneak to just get the 1st down and carry on. But if instead he drops back to pass everyone is like .. "No no noooooo!!" Until the pass is completed down the sideline for a TD. Then it's "No no noooo... dumb son of a.... YES!!! TD BABY WooHoo.. what a play call.. totally fooled em.. we're number 1!!!"
But if it's incomplete then disregard everything above after " dumb son of a...

The previous 2 posts were very good and should be required reading for all those fans that blame the coaches and play calling every time the team fails rather than recognize the myriad of factors that go into success and failure.

No second guessing because Jones wasn't running for 2 yards on 2nd and nine.

Play calling doesn't matter if you can't block. And guess what? When you do block, the plays actually work better!

There was nothing wrong with our playcalling vs the Jags. The problem was execution.

did anyone else notice the rollouts on our passing plays.seems like almost every passing play was a rollout, giving our statue more time to throw and to throw off the Skins blitzes.

I'm glad someone made this thread, I was too chicken to. I thought the play calling was (I won't say outstanding because you need to execute it for it to work) but I thought the calling was very aggressive and that's all a fan could ask for.
I went after the game, and looked at the extremeskins game thread (which was 400 pages long) and all I could see was, "Al Saunders suck and I hate this stupid conservative junk" and so on and so on. I went to the Steelers board, and I read the same thing, as we do here.
All fans from every team, want their coaches to be aggressive, and hats off to Parcells and company for being aggressive.

I got a good idea for "aggressive" play calling. Just throw it to the endzone (or as deep as you can depending on field position) on each play.
For one thing the D would never believe you would do that so they wouldnt defend for it on every play. But regardless, if you did it 30 times in a game you have to figure at least 3 or 4 times the end result would be in your favor.
Beats playing conventionally for 60 minutes and ending up with just 10-17 points, dont it?
