You have to hav an HDTV capable TV to receive HDTV signals...most that are sold are "HDTV ready" which means you have to have an HDTV Turner/receiver to be able to get the signal...some TV's have HDTV Tuner's build in, but they are more expensive
DirecTV and DISH Network both offer HDTV/Sat receivers, but not all the channels are shown in HDTV yet...I know DTV sells an HDTV package of like 6 channels with all HD broadcasts...HDTV/Tivo boxes are also available but are extremely expensive ($1000-1200)
Right most seem to advise getting a seperate HDTV Tuner (which as noted, can be picked up at Wal Mart for $200), combined with an HDTV antenna (you can get a small indoor one for about 25-30 bucks) and you'll pick up pretty much all of your local channels and get whatever broadcasts they have in HDTV...its cheaper
