If they have any interest in Lee, that's the perfect time to give him the ball and hope he will run pretty well, if he does, we can get a higher draft choice for him or he just proove Bill he is a good backup for JJ.

I can't help but think that Dallas is listening to offers for Reshard Lee and/or Eddie George. Miami still needs a RB, and there are other teams that are challenged at the position. Arizona for example. I think Julius, either Eddie or Reshard, Richie and Martin make up our RB crew. I think Eddie could be given up easily...since he only contributes in the running game. Both Lee and Jones will be getting special teams time. I am sure that Richie is used on special teams as well. With all the TE's, they can be used as an H-back in some sets. Probably have Campbell, Witten and Ryan there, along with Robinson.

It certainly appears that Tucker is in a fight for his job. Since they have a high pick invested in Rogers, he is going to get the chance to prove himself. Vollers already has shown can be adequate at RT, now working on left tackle. The OL is interesting. I guess we have Rogers, Gurode, Johnson, Allen, Adams, with Peterman and Walter as backups. Leaves two, maybe three spots open for DiNapoli, Lehr, Tucker, and Vollers.

At DE, I am not surprised to see them flip flop Ellis and Wiley. Wiley has always been a sackmaster, not necessarily as good against the run. Maybe they are seeing more pressure from Ellis but not enough to justify weakening the run game. While the games don't count they want to see if Wiley gets more pressure from the other side.

DT is a mess, but I think Eaton is going to help. He is a big body that knows what Parcells demands.

Yes, I think Torrin Tucker is in some trouble. Not as far as making the team, but as far as being active each week. Parcells has already said he could upgrade the RT situation immediately by moving Vollers back there. So if he's only taking three tackles to the game, and he knows Flo and Rogers are two of them, and if it's imperative that the 3rd tackle be able to play both positions... Well, I think Tucker better show at least something at LT this Monday night.

You are making some good points.

I'm actually hoping that it is George. He is not going to be around much longer whereas Julius and Lee both seem to have a promising future.

Relationship with Zimmer is better this year, feels more like talking to Belichik. Asked about something yesterday, and then asked again this year. Told him to go with his gut, and he won’t be second-guessed. He wants me to be in agreement with him, and I will be. He’s putting more thought and info into it, so I told him that whatever he wants to do, I’ll go with him.
Big praise for Zimmer. If the Def comes up big this year, then Zim could be gone.

I like Zimmer in Dallas and probably not so much if he left

And accelerate his Cap hit?

Isn't George signed for just one year? If so, how would his cap hit accelerate? If it's one year, his cap hit would be the same regardless of whether he's kept, cut, or traded. I'm pretty sure of this. Unless he has something "weird" written into his contract. Adam would have to verify this, but I'm pretty sure of it.

He received a $1.5M bonus and min type salary deal with incentives.

Adam can confirm that.

His contract does not impact next season unless he runs for 1300 yards and 10 TDs, so what gets acelerated?

NFL Notebook: George signs Cowboys' contract
Saturday, July 24, 2004

By The Associated Press

Veteran running back Eddie George signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys yesterday, two days after being released by the Tennessee Titans.

Ron Heflin, Associated Press
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones poses with new running back Eddie George at the Cowboys practice facility after George signed a one-year contract Friday.

"He's a great fit for us, and he will complement an offense that will be about power running," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.

George's deal includes an immediate $1.5 million bonus, which was about what the Titans wanted to pay him for the entire season.

Add his base salary and easily reachable incentives, and he could make upward of $4.5 million, more than he would have made under his previous deal with Tennessee. George also is motivated to raise his market value when he becomes a free agent again next season.

George was cut Wednesday at his request after he rejected Tennessee's final bid. He left the Titans after eight seasons and more than 10,000 yards.

"I see this team coming up on the rise," George said yesterday in Dallas. There was a lot of places to look at, but I see that Dallas is committed to the run, and I think I can help with that."

George's only free-agent visit was to Dallas. Negotiations moved so quickly because the relationship works well for both sides.

That means James playing more in base 4-3 and Roy blitzing more from SAFETY.

I guess you missed/ignored Parcells commenting about Roy losing weight?

I am half wrong - we already have Eddies SB in our current cap. I was thinking of multi year contracts and accelerated cap hits. But you trade him it is still dead money and can't be recouped I believe.

I doubt they gave him that money to trade him and what is he worth in trade?

But when Roy gets in the box, on the edge, pass rushing he is a LB.

Did you miss Parcells say yesterday he'd play Roy AT LB
He's still bigger than Coak and Singleton! lol
