Daily Turd on Cowboy QB situation
TUNA LOOKING FOR ANOTHER QB
We're told that Cowboys coach Bill Parcells will be watching the waiver wire very closely in the hopes of picking up another quarterback prior to the start of the season.
And we won't be surprised to see a big name or two on the open market. Kurt Warner is a possibility if he's not the New York starter. Rich Gannon could walk the plank in Oakland if (as we've been predicting) the team asks him within the next two weeks to take a deep reduction in his $7 million salary. Even Brad Johnson isn't safe in Tampa, given Chris Simms' development.
Regardless of who it is, there always is at least one surprise or two when the final cuts come down. If one of those guys is a veteran quarterback, the first call they likely will receive will be from Big D.

this stuff seem rather ludicrous. Especially the blurb on Gannon

I would be surprised if any of those names became available...if so, I'm not sure I'd want them except maybe Gannon...won't happen.
I'd rather us draft a mid round QB next year and develop him into a #2 or 3...keeping a vet at #2 behind Drew.

I think the idea in cutting Romo and bringing in a vet is that we already have a young, developing QB...we don't want to draft another one and be trying to develop him too....1 young QB is all any team needs.
Frankly, we have the aged one Vinnie who is no more than a 1 year QB, so we need to bring in a veteran behind him or alongside him...no more young guys or developmental types...we need a vet QB who isn't a real starting caliber player, but a guy who is a team player, who supports the starter and the young guy in the wings, while being capable of playing a game or two and keeping the ship afloat.
In other words, we need another Jason Garrett right now. For next year, we're going to need a QB who can compete with Henson but accept the backup role.
NO more young QB's...that just screws up everyone's development while providing no depth at the position for this season.

Gannon was the Jets first choice to back up Pennngton, and they held off on signing Carter till they were reasonably certain Rich would not shake loose.
Who says Warner will be released if Manning starts from Day One? I haven't seen that mentioned in the NY press.
There's also the little point that Tuna has said so far, he's sticking with what he's got at QB.

What about Chris Chandler? There is another aged one. He was ok in Chicago last year when the OL can protect him.
What team is he with now?

What if Tim Couch gets surprisingly cut in Green Bay after a rough preseason? He'd make a good backup I think for this year and next year, since Vinny is only signed for this year.

Not sure I agree with that...for the future...for this year yes I agree. Thinking about next year...Henson starts, Vet back up...then begin developing another you QB. JMO

if he's not good enough to be the back up in GB, why do you think he'd be any different here?
The guy has been absolutely putrid...even Romo's a better alternate than Couch

I think I saw Chandler is the backup for Bulger. I saw a Chandler at QB the other night for the Rams.
Vinnie will be the Backup next year and Romo will continue to be developed. I would seriously doubt us drafting someone, I think BP thinks Romo, with time will be a very competent #2.

The Cowboys will not pick up a QB. We will go in to the season with what we have.

Is it just me or does this need to be filed under "DUHH". I would think 32 teams are watching the wavier wires for a QB, and all other positions.

Someone at the Daily Turd keeps dialing 1-800-Quarterback and receives great info in return.
I keep calling the same number and the only thing I can get is, "The number you have reach has been disconnected or is no longer in service."
What the..?
