is this rumor true?
a 1st rounder??!?!!?
if it is then why didnt we wait...
also, lol he was complaining about being a backup to emmitt.. so he goes to oakland and complains about not starting, and now finds himself backing up emmit again, with the most sorry team in the NFL.

No way.. I doubt it seriously... but then again... we are talking about Bill Bidwell...
I bet we find this unfounded even for him...

Haven't heard that, but I can almost guarantee it's not true.

There is no way in the freaking world that could ever come close to being true.
Hambrick is not worth a draft pick and probably not worth a few helmets in a trade.

I wouldn't even give a 1st DAY pick let alone a first round one.

Maybe it was Arizona that got the 1st round pick. There had to be some incentive to take Hambone off of Al Davis's hands

No way, unless Denny Green's been into some peyote there in the desert.
I wouldn't give up an ice pick for TH, let alone a 1st round pick...

Cards acquire Hambrick, Zellner from Raiders

The need for size and depth led the Cardinals to trade for Oakland Raiders running back Troy Hambrick and defensive end Peppi Zellner on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-1, 233-pound Hambrick has the size at running back the team has lacked since Marcel Shipp suffered a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula in training camp. The 6-foot-5, 262-pound Zellner has been penciled in as the starter on the left side, even though he didn't even have a job about two weeks ago.
The Cardinals gave up an undisclosed 2005 draft pick conditional on the playing time and contributions of the two players.
"Obviously, if these guys aren't the players we expect them to be, then I fully anticipate that (coach Dennis Green) will not settle for it," said Rod Graves, vice president for football operations. "We'll just move on."
The Raiders probably would have cut both players, but as vested veterans, they would have been free agents. The Cardinals didn't want them to get that far, so they made the trade.
"Both players have the size and strength that we don't currently have at each of those positions," Graves said. Hambrick will assume a role familiar to him: backing up Emmitt Smith. Hambrick played with Dallas from 2000 through last season. He backed up Smith for three years and replaced him as the starter last year. He rushed for 972 yards on 275 attempts and scored five touchdowns.
The Cowboys, however, felt they could do better and released Hambrick after they drafted Julius Jones in the second round. Hambrick wasn't in the mix in Oakland, where he fell behind Tyrone Wheatley and Justin Fargas.
Zellner signed with the Raiders recently after spending last year with Washington.
"Dennis is anxious to have those guys come in with a certain attitude," Graves said. "Obviously, I think they recognize their opportunities may be here or no place."
Green has been concerned about the left end spot since the start of camp. He doesn't think Kyle Vanden Bosch is ready physically to play there every down and wants to use him as a situational player, mostly on passing downs.
Zellner's acquisition allows the team to move Darnell Dockett, its third-round pick, back to tackle. That's the position the team drafted him to play, although Green said last week that he anticipated Dockett playing at end all season.
In other moves Tuesday, the team placed defensive end Fred Wakefield on injured reserve, meaning he's out for the year.
Wakefield, a backup, suffered a stress fracture in his foot last week and probably would have been out at least eight weeks.
The team also released cornerback Dyshod Carter, offensive lineman Raleigh Roundtree, defensive end Joe Tafoya and linebacker Marcus Wilkins.
The Cardinals claimed offensive tackle Alan Reuber off waivers from Minnesota. Reuber was an undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M.
The moves bring the Cardinals roster to 69 players, including four NFL Europe exemptions.

Cards Get Dis-Carded Backups
Cardinals acquire Hambrick and Zellner from Oakland
09:47 PM CDT on Tuesday, August 31, 2004
Associated Press
PHOENIX – The Arizona Cardinals acquired former Cowboys Troy Hambrick and Peppi Zellner on Tuesday in a trade with the Oakland Raiders.
The Cardinals gave the Raiders an undisclosed conditional 2005 draft pick, the team announced.
Hambrick entered the league with the Cowboys in 2000 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Savannah State and started all 16 games for Dallas last season.
He rushed for 972 yards and five touchdowns last year, but was released by the Cowboys May 13 and signed with the Raiders four days later.
Zellner, a defensive end, also broke into the league with the Cowboys. He was drafted by Dallas in 1999. He spent the 1999-2002 seasons with the Cowboys. He played in 16 games for the Redskins a year ago.

How the more things change the more they stay the same.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.
