And that is that despite what Ty Law is costing the Pats cap, and despite the 1.5 mil or whatever it is they have to cut, you don't see Pats fans on message boards or on talk radio up here obsessing much on what will happen with Law.

It's like they are either resigned or happy to know he is going to play for NE this year. Some think he will be asked to redo his deal in some "new" way, and will comply. Others speculate about possible trades (I saw one to Philly for Lito Sheppard) but make it clear it is just sheer, sourceless speculation. But surprisingly, considering the cap hit and animosity between Ty and Mumbles, ithere is very very little of that type of speculation. I mean, nothing like the Eddie George trade rumours here.

Pats nation is asleep. They were SHOCKED when Milloy was cut. They will be equally shocked if this goes down.

NE also had a pretty good plan-B in Rodney Harrison. NE is less prepared to replace Law at CB.

Eugene Wilson into the Safety slot. That worked out pretty well!

Samuel is ready and the new Safety Reid is going to be a player also.
Added Buckley also. They are deep in secondary.

But Nors.

They are concerned about a very REAL situation - being over the cap and having to get under it. All kinds of discussion on who could restructure, who could be let go. But so little about the guy taking up so MUCH of the cap. And as you say, all this in light of what went down with Lawyer two days before the season began last year.

Either the entire region has been Rip Van Winckled, as you say, or folks actually BELIEVE Ty ain't gonna be moved.

It's you against the millions, Nors.

You'll look pretty savvy if you're right.

Ty Law is only 5'11".

Guss Scott (their 3rd round pick) is on IR (according to patscap.com), so they would have no safety depth at all if they moved Wilson to CB and started Reid.

I could see them release Poole, and start Samuel and Law, with Buckley the NB, but of course, I don't have your "inside sources".

I might try to work a deal with GB for Anderson. He's likely to be cut either way so, what the heck. I might offer Romo for Anderson and maybe a lower round pick, maybe a 6th. If they were interested, then I'd turn right around and offer a 3rd and Hunter to New England for Law. Far fetched, I grant you, but that would work for pretty much all parties involved.

Granted... if Nors is right he'll deserve the props for it.

And if he's wrong, he'll get his nosed rubbed in it.

Just kidding. Your absolutly right. It would have to be an 06 or some such. Not in love with giving up a 1st or a 2nd. Just too damned valuable IMO.
