The draft of Canty, Spears & Burnette
was this a bad draft by BP. If so, we have really set this defense back 5 years.
If BP retires after this season is over..which seems to be in 2 more games.
Are we any closer to a SB than we were when he first arrived in Dallas?

Of course we are closer, we made the playoffs this year. Switzer and Gailey lived off of Jimmy's old players and Campo was nothing more than a gameday coach. People are ticked off because we are no longer looking like a Superbowl contender, but they would be ecstatic if the Cowboys had this record the year before Parcells came here. We could be better (and should be, given the talent), but we are not as bad as we were before Parcells.

All 3 are very good talents who need to be unleashed.

Sometimes a fresh start is needed to get the fire going. Perhaps this is one of those situations where Parcells retiring could be the best thing for this team (and yes, removing Zimmer as well).

All 3 of those players were highly ranked coming out of College, so the talent is there. Maybe it's the Scheme or lack of Coaching.

Or as sometimes happens college play is no indication of capability in the pros.

if Campos teams had this record we would be very pleased but if Campo had tis talent I would expect 9-7 every year!
the fact is BP has had more resources to aquire talent in Free Agency... and Campo had nothing to do with player personel!!!
I call BP effort slightly better than Campo's only because he did get more out of Jerrys Boys than Campo ever did... but again, thats not to say Campo couldnt go 9-7 with this roster too!!!
I know the D would be better!!!

Spears is lazy and has been since his LSU days. I guarantee, what you see now is what you'll get.........no more, perhaps less.
There is no formula for success except an unconditional acceptance of life and what it brings.

but they have eached flashed the talent in the pro's. The truth is, Parcell's each man beat his man def no longer works. I remember Joe Gibbs saying after his first year back, the one thing that changed the most was the attacking def. When he last coached (ie when Parcells was still King) the offense dictated tempo to the def. Now, all that has changed (ie, Blitzburg, Ravens, San Diego etc...)
Parcells system of each man beating thier man is no longer a viable option. You have a front seven, what is the probablity that each man beats his man on the same play. If you watch our game, its always one guy getting beat on each play. Its not the whole team. Parcells really has no scheme on D. Its a base 3-4. How long did we all thing it would take bright offensive minds to break his code. Payton and Reid destroyed the D, but they will not be the last. If an offensive coordinator knows how you are going to react to each play, then they will design a game plan to kill you. Just think about last night and the task we asked our front seven. On each play you are asking them to beat Shawn Andrews one on one. To me Andrews has the immediate advantage. 1) He knows where the play is going, the def does not. 2) He also knows where the def is going, becasue its a base 3-4 and each guy has two gaps to cover. If he and the running back both know who the front seven will react, how easy is it to minipulate and cut back. How easy is it to influence the d and then cut back.
Parcells must realize, the NFL is no longer a man to man league. We need to add some scheme to the good talent we have.

I hope you're not right Sarge. Either that or Spears gets 'motivated'.
I still think we will put good pressure on the QB with Ellis back.
I also think the addition of a pass rusher via FA or the draft will be high on our list.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

I couldn't agree more. I personally thought Campo's efforts were severely underrated. If not for a couple of LUCKY breaks last year we'd have been a very Campo-esque 5-11 or 6-10 last year.
Campo had absolutely no say-so in his coaching staff nor in the selection of players. BP has been given (almost) carte blanche in personnel and coaches w/ TO being the only exception I can think of, and here we are undergoing another late-season collapse. I just don't see how we are so much better than Campo, at least in the area of production of results...

None of these guys were prolific passrushers in college. Spears was especially overrated, but looking back, what other 3-4 DE's were there? Castillo, who had just tested positive for steroids and no one else.
