I still think it's funny that people think we will sign someone big. Signing Dielman or Steinbach will shock me more than if we don't sign them.

I don't quite the see the fascination with the big money signings anyway. As someone else mentioned, instead of spending big money on a guard, it might make a lot more sense to draft a good young one.
I do believe that Dallas is going to make a few signings, but I expect the Cowboys to be selctive and picky. There's nothing wrong with that either.

thats the thing there really isnt a good one in the draft. the OL picks lately have stunk. other then jamaal brown and marcus mcneil lately can u name any good Ol picks?
lately its been the college players think bigger the better. but whats happened is the bigger the lazier and slower they been.

The BOys have been really good in the draft the last four years- except in the O line. BP was able to make up for that some with getting Columbo, and resurrecting Gurode at center. But the bottom line is that we have SUCKED at drafting O line. That is why I just do not want to draft anyone on the first day from the O line since we have SUCKED at that. McQ might be a real find; if so that makes up some more. BUT we need a guard and unless Proctor is a whole lot more ready then thought the only really favorable way for US to go is FA.

good for Jerruh...although I think they already overpaid somewhat to keep Gurode, but at least he is young, still has an upside and is someone they know fits what they want to do
they dont need to be throwing 7mils a yr+ at average Joe's like Steinbach, Dielman or Leonard Davis

I agree...nor do I think we SHOULD sign either of those guys if they are gonna be getting 5-6-7mils a yr or more...niether of them are worth anywhere near that
a middle rd pick can come in and do virtually the same job either of those guys can do and wont cost anywhere near what they would
but too many remain inflicted with big name-itis

I really doubt a middle round pick can come in and play like one of those two can. At best it will take a year for any rookie to really play at a high level. The number of rookies who come in and do like McNeill did out of all those picked in the top 3 rds over the last few years would barely take all the fingers of one hand. BIG BUSTITIS RISK.

Shane Olivia was a 7th rd pick for San Diego a few yrs back...came in, started every game at RT and did fine
and interior OL's are not difference makers nor do you need to invest huge dollars to get mroe than adequate production...a good OL coach can do wonders
and by the way, Dielman wasnt even drafted

he paid Gurode like he was top tier. Mistake was not locking down a starting center until this year. Then Gurode flukes into the pro-bowl and we pay him like he is a perrenial pro-bowler, ouch.
Easy in hindsight and I am not sure they had a choice with the situation.
Foresight says they better find a young stud at wr very very soon.

This is actually one of the more intelligent comments I've heard from JJ in a long time. I think most FAs are overpriced and underproducing, especially most of the ones he signs. Too bad there's not too much to look forward to IF he's running the draft, with his putrid draft history.

I hope he doesn't spend big for middle-of-the-road players. If they aren't there this year, draft what you need and see what happens next year.

RFO for short... or better still, MMM-- the Mad Midget's Minions...
We should make that shorthand for dumb football decisions made by any team... say "they just pulled out something I would have expected from MMM"...
Smarter than the av-er-age bear...
