Hypothetical Draft Situation... Calvin Johnson, Joe Thomas, Adrian Peterson, other?
Okay, here the Cowboys sit at the No. 1 position in the 2007 draft. Who would you want to see them take?
Joe Thomas - definitely fills a need.
Calvin Johnson - not necessarily a need but having him ready to go when TO and Glenn leave would be ripe.
Adrian Peterson - he probably finds his way to daylight quicker than JJ.
Brady Quinn - in case Romo is a one-year wonder.
I'm divided between Calvin Johnson - once in a life-time prospect, a TO without the baggage - and Joe Thomas - would anchor the line for 10 years.
But I'm gonna have to go with Calvin Johnson. If he's the next TO, which I think he is, I'd gotta go with him. I don't know if JT is the next Anthony Munoz.

I trade down to the 3rd spot and draft Joe Thomas, then take Meachem with my other 1st round pick.
The we still have our pick at #22...
This is of course a dream scenario

CJ is the best player in this draft and does fill a certain need as Glenn and Owens aren't getting any younger.
Next would be Thomas followed by Peterson then Quinn.
Where's Sidney Rice?

You trade beyond 2 and you watch Det take Thomas.

Calvin Johnson. And wouldn't think twice.
Assuming he dropped out of the draft, then I would seriously consider taking Brady Quinn over Joe Thomas.
If all three dropped out, I would trade out of the #1 spot.

I said it before and I'll say it again - Ryan Leaf is a can't miss prospect. Him or Akili Smith - and I never look back.

I also recall Dallas being called stupid for taking Troy instead of a certain offensive line man. Another can't miss.

Well my first thought is. . how do we know he won't have the TO baggage? When did TO become TO,, it wasn't his rookie year.
Second.. if you have the 1st pick in the draft, more than likely your team sucks. So you take the very best player and build around him. The only exception would be if you picked 1st the year before.. you don't take the same position. IE, you wouldn't take 2 QB's with number 1's in back to back drafts.

I'd have to give JaMarcus Russell very serious consideration.
If I liked his interview and intangibles, I'd go with him.
Answer for this off-season: Assemble an elite offense.
