Strange. I was just reading about him on Footballsfutures.com

Small school linebackers shine at combine
Relative unknown linebackers Antwan Barnes and Zak DeOssie had impressive workouts at the combine.
Barnes, an outside linebacker from Florida International, put on an impressive display of speed and strength. He led all linebackers with a 4.40 40-yard dash and finished second among his peers with 31 reps of the 225 bench. At 6'1" 240 pounds he has the size, speed, and strength scouts love.
DeOssie, a huge linebacker from Brown, showed amazing speed for someone his size. After weighing in at 6'5" and 250 pounds he went out and ran a 4.53 40-time.

not really a thread, just remember one of the threads he popped into to post his thoughts for the draft, had DeOssie in his personal mocks in the 5th/6th round range

How high do you think he'll go? Looks like a 3-4 OLB to me.

May be a nice later 1st day pick, or a plesant surprise for Cowboy draftnicks to wake up to on the 2nd day (for those of us on the west coast).
One thing about the combine is that players with this kind of production and athletic ability from small schools don't slip by anymore. Its player/prospects with this kind of athleticism who can make geniuses out of NFL personnel.

I already had DeOssie on my board, simply because I almost always include the sons of ex-Cowboys... didn't know he could run that kind of 40, in fact I was worried he was a 4.8 type, but I included him until I could find out... I did like his size, obviously...
And needless to say, running a 4.53 40 makes me like him as a possible draft pick even more...
Smarter than the av-er-age bear...

thanks for the props.....
I am a big fan of the small school guys....they have to work harder and they seem a bit hungrier than the big school guys, who get everything handed to them.
If you go to the draft section of this site......I have many threads with Zac DeOssie in them.....I have a few about small school prospects or sleepers, UDFAs, mock drafts, etc....
I cant believe I missed this Barnes kid......I feel like a Goober now...He seems to be a bad mamma jamma....

Two guys that didn't get invited to the combine to look for are Western Michigan LB Ameer Ismail, and Alcorn State DE/LB Martin Jackson. I thought they would impress at the combine but others didn't agree and didn't even give them the chance. When pro days roll around I look forward to hearing how they did as well.

I like that 4.43 40 time, and his resume looks pretty nice. That's exactly what this defense needs, SPEED!!

The other LB that put up some pretty good numbers is Tim Shaw from Penn State.
6'1 1/2" 236 Put up 26 and ran a 4.43. Played MLB last year then moved to DE.
Said that moving to DE may have hurt his draft status some but would do anything to help his team and it did help him as a football player because it forced him to learn more about rushing the passer.
A blurb in my paper said he's in the top 10 all time rushers in HS history.

i think were still keeping the same philosophy on linebackers that Parcells had, no 1 under 6'3 and 250 lbs.
