Default This is freakin' SAD

Ok I don't care what ranking Zimmer's defense had last year, this year, or any other year. It is KEY for ANY defense to get pressure on the QB with their front four, something our front four SUCKS at accomplishing.

This should put things in perspective:

Peppi Zellner has 2 sacks so far today. That's just TODAY.

Ebenezer Ekuban has 1 sack so far today. He has 2 for the season.

Our ENTIRE TEAM has 1 sack this WHOLE SEASON.

I think it's time we admit to ourselves that the problem isn't as much a personnel problem as it is the scheme. Zimmer needs to quit being so anal about his run defense and let the DL loose every once in awhile.

Hell, forget Zellner and Ekuban. What about Ellis and Glover? Ellis looked like he was on his way to becoming a superstar in this league before he got hurt. What has he done in Zimmer's D since his rookie year? His CAREER HIGH is 8 frigin' sacks.

What about GLover? He was a freakin' dominating beast before coming to Dallas. He's still a probowler, but is he the game changer he used to be?

Someone made a post a couple of weeks ago about how Zimmer's D makes good players average... I agree. His defense doesn't allow playmakers to be playmakers. He may be a hard worker and he may have a good bend but don't break scheme, but you need to force turnovers to be a truly dominant defense, and our D hasn't done that under Zimmer.

I'm literally sickened by watching these guys that used to play for Dallas that we called "Busts" go out and play good games. I'm now glad we didn't go after Jevon Kearse this year. He would of been wasted in Zimmer's scheme.

Go ahead and start pointing out stats now, Zimmer apologists.

I have been too, although I eased off of it a bit last year. But our ball control offense had a lot to do with our defensive ranking last year. We need a DCoord that will best utilize the TALENT on his team, much like Parcells is doing with the personnel on offense.

Remember how we we cap strapped in the '01 season with 27 mil worth of dead money...our defense that year finished 4 statistically we had 24 sacks as a team

And then remember the QB carosel we had with QC, Wright, Stoerner, and Leaf on offense.

In '02, we added, Glover Ross, Williams and Hardy..results? we went from 4th overall defense to 18th...and still the same lousy 24 sacks

Now, our offense receded in '02 due to horrific OL play and injuries, poor QB play but still...we went from 4th overall to 18th with better talent which was, and still is being misutilized

Zimmer does less with more...and we continue to pay against teams with good offensive talent

Unless things change, the Eagles will hang 30 or more on us twice

One can add Seattle and GB to that list too, but IMHO, the Fecals are the cream of the crop in the NFC

Rack I have something that will make you happy. Peppi Zellner has 2 sacks for this season. Notice how players get better after they leave Mike Zimmers defense and they go from being great and dominating to just average when they come to Zimmers defense. Zimmer should be fired after this year. No matter who we bring in nothing will change. We could bring in the 4 best defensive linemen in the NFL and Zimmer woudl still find a way to get no pressure on the QB and be at the bottom of the NFL in sacks pressures and turnovers. Zimmer sucks.

2. You know those other two sacks were for a loss of about 1 yard, right?

3. I don't even think those other two sacks came off blitzes. The DB just happened to come up and tackle the QB.

4. I know you know all that, and I'm pretty sure you agree with me.

I'd bet we have 7 or 8 after the Skins game.

Rack. You notice how Roy Williams and T-New are not playing as good as last year. Zimmer is ruining them to. How many more players does he have to ruin and turn into average before people get it that Zimmer needs to be gone and we need a good DC here.

If we get to whoever starts @ QB for the skins a few times Id be happy, especially with Gibbs and Bugel running the OL

I agree we need a better pass rush. I completely disagree about it being Zimmer.

Don't forget, Ekuban looked pretty good after a couple of weeks last year and then tanked.

I wouldn't say he looked good. NONE of our DL have looked good since Glover in the first couple of weeks of his first year in Dallas. The best our DL have looked is "solid" or "average". Even against the SORRY A$$ browns OL we didn't look "Good". A "Good" DL would of been killing Garcia every pass play. Our DL only managed a "Solid" pass rush. That's NOT good when it's against that OL.

Jacksonville just won again 15-12...now there is a defense!!!

10 points, 6 and now 12 yielded in 3 games

And the most astonishing stat going into the game was the Jags D was on the field for 35:30 a game

Now, one can point out the teams theyve faced have been weak offensively, but still 35 and a 1/2 a game on the field and to only give up 28 points in 3 games

unreal

I wonder if it's a coincidence that our focus on D has been so run oriented after the 2000 season. We were the worst in the league that year and had 3 guys break 200 yards against us. We've improved on run defense about every year, but it seems we sacrificed QB pressure in the process.
