Default Bears will sign CHUD depending on physical

I don't have a link but the local ESPN here in Chicago just announced it and also another station. Just letting you all know, in case you're interested.

Bears sign ex-Cowboys QB Hutchinson

September 27, 2004

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Bears on Monday agreed to terms with quarterback Chad Hutchinson on a two-year contract. The agreement is contingent on Hutchinson passing a physical.

Hutchinson played in 10 games over the 2002-03 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before being waived during the offseason.

The 6-5, 237-pounder started the final nine games of the 2002 season and finished as Dallas' leading passer, throwing for 1,555 yards while completing 127-of-250 passes with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions.

His 66.3 passer rating as a rookie was higher than two players chosen in the top five of the 2002 NFL Draft: Houston's David Carr (62.8) and Detroit's Joey Harrington (59.9).

Hutchinson set a Cowboys franchise record by opening his NFL career with 95 pass attempts without an interception. He led Dallas to consecutive wins vs. Jacksonville (11/24) and vs. Washington (11/28), connecting on two touchdown passes in each contest.

In the win over the Jaguars, Hutchinson threw for 301 yards on 14-of-26 passing for a career-high 102.8 passer rating. Hutchinson appeared in only one game in a reserve role in 2003, but was allocated by the Cowboys to Rhein Fire for the 2004 NFL Europe season.

The fourth-rated passer in NFLE last year, Hutchinson completed 126-of-207 passes for 1,356 yards with five touchdown passes and four interceptions for a passer rating of 80.1.

Hutchinson signed a seven-year contract with the Cowboys on January 26, 2002, returning to football after four years playing professional baseball in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. The Stanford product briefly made it to the major leagues in 2001, before making the decision to return to football.

He was recovering from an injury until recently. And the first time a QB went down for the season, he was the one getting the call. Frankly, he's better right now than a lot of third-stringers out there, and probably better than some second-stringers.

Good for him, and yes, everyone deserves a second chance.

Personally, I hope he's playing when the Cowboys meet the Bears later this season.

Hell I am glad he is gone,BUT I wish him well.....In the right situation he might work out.For those always ragging his goofy @#$ compare the Q's first season to his....and that is after not playing for years Instead of blaming Hutch & Quincy blame the orginization that played them before they were ready.

I watched a lot of Browns games. He's an average NFL QB when healthy. It all started when he broke his leg. Fans and coach turned on him.

He has a serious arm/wrist issue that is not allowing him to throw without pain. He's having that fixed before resigning per his agent.

Well, good for him. I think he has some talent, it is just a matter if he can learn to feel pressure in the pocket and become stronger mentally.

I don't think the Chicago Bears are the best place to go to continue your development though.

Good for Chad. It's a shame the Bears lost their QB for the season. He was putting up some pretty good numbers. I think it would be kinda cool to watch Hutch at the helm on turkey day.
