Props to Tony Dixon
The man is still horrible in coverage, but finally...FINALLY...he made some plays. His two sacks, which sure do seem like the first two plays he has ever made in a Cowboys uniform, were important to the outcome of this game. Props to him for finally stepping up and doing something.

i thought his coverage was decent today. he didnt get beat deep and made good tackles. those two sacks and the forced fumble don't hurt either.

I agree. Although most of me wish it was Roy coming on those blitz and getting in cleanly and causeing some real havok. It was still great to see a 2nd round pick make some plays.
Maybe he can come in and blitz only. Coverage is just not his thing.

I would love to know what the coaching staff sees in him. I really thought that he would not make it out of the pre-season. Besides knowing the defense, what is he bringing to the table? He really is lost in coverage and that is something that we need more strength in. Roy is a great strong safety, but his coverage skills ae only marginally better then Dixon. I fear what would happen if Lynn Scott had to play 2 or 3 games....

well since i've never been to down on dixon and in the minority of liking him, i say that he had a nice game and made me happy. However, he still needs to improve in coverage but he's not that bad imo. Good to see Dixon do some well for this team.

It's being creative." -Steve Prefontaine

If dixon plays this way every week, would be fine with me.

It was Wiley that tried to pick it up, not Ellis.

You know for as much as we bash the guy around here (rightfully so) I guess it's only appropriate that we give the guy props when he does have a good game.
*sigh*......Good Game, Tony......*sigh*

Ellis also had a shot after Wiley, tried to pick it up instead of falling on it.

Neither of them really had a good shot. They are close to 300 pounds and running in that direction, that creates a LOT of momentum. They can't be expected to stop on a dime and recover the ball.

Good Job
Tony will never be good in pass coverage but he's a good tackler and great against the run and he's the best special team player on the team. He's finally making positive plays, hopefully this will give him confidence for the follow weeks.

Someone needs to teach Wiley some football smarts. First the late-hit on Brunell, then trying to run with the football instead of just falling on it. "Dat Dude" needs to get his act together.

Fall on the ball, ellis reached down to pick it up. It is about knowing the game situation.
