info on new TE Brett Pierce
Brett Pierce, 6'5 255lbs from Stanford...15th rated TE by TSN, 21st by Kiper...kinda interesting, but TSN's description which has an NFL player comparison says "Dan Campbell"
says he has long arms, good upper body strength and soft hands...basically no speed but is a reliable blocker...

Hmmm...hope he can contibute blocking then in 2 TE sets. But man, it does make you think something is wrong with Sean Ryan...doesn't it?

yeah. it doesn't speak well to ryan does it. bring in a FA tight end who doesn't know the system instead of your draft pick who has spent the offseason learning the system. not good for ryan.

I agree about it not saying much for Ryan, not at all. We got out and bring in Pierce, who doesn't know anything about our offense, and he wasn't with us in camp like Ryan was, that certainly doesn't say anything "positive" for Ryan.

It's certainly curious.
Dallas doesn't think enough of Ryan to bring him back up to the varsity, but he's shown enough to maintain a spot on the practice squad, where another tight end resides, Landon Trusty.

Dallas doesn't have to keep Pierce active and they can release him at any time.
As long as Pierce doesn't play in seven regular season games, he will be eligible to join Dallas' practice squad if theyn release him and he clears waivers.

Coyle had him at #29
Sean Ryan rated much, much higher.
With Ricks signing something is up?

(sighs)....just what would that be Nors
wait I know...signing a pass catching TE and then signing a #3 blocking TE means we are switching to the 3-4!

If you guess at enough stuff or make vague enough potential predictions, you can come back and crow when it happens.

it makes me think parcells believes neither ricks nor ryan are up to the blocking tasks he requires from the position. not so remarkable, really...
dallas up to it's ears in "receiving TEs".

I could see that but I wonder why they don't use Jacob Rogers or one of the other offensive linemen to block.
