Dallas is 1-4 all time on September 23. They are 1-2 at home, 0-2 on the road. In 1962 on this date the Cowboys were called for holding in the endzone resulting in a safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was the first time in NFL History that this happened and it negated a 99 yard Eddie LeBaron to Frank Clarke touchdown. In 2001 on this date "Bullet" Bob Hayes was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor.

Vegas line for the game is...-3

The Chicago Bears joined the NFL in 1919 as the Decatur Staleys. In 1921 they moved to Chicago and adopted the Bears as their mascot in 1922. Their current mascot is called "Staley Da Bear." The perception has always been that George "Papa Bear" Halas founded the team. But Halas actually came on board in 1920. The original team name is evidence of this as A.E. Staley of Decatur was the original owner. In 1921 Staley turned over control of the team to Halas and Dutch Sternaman. From that point forward the perception has been Halas was the Bears founder.

The Bears won 8 NFL Championships in the Pre-Super Bowl era. They were in 1921, 1932, 1933, 1940, 1941, 1943, 1946, and 1963. In the 1940 NFL Championship the Bears rolled up the most lopsided win in NFL History 73-0 over the Washington Redskins. The Bears also hold the distinction of handing the Cowboys their worst loss ever, 44-0 in their Super Bowl XX season.

In the Super Bowl era they are 1-1 in Super Bowls. They "shuffled" their way to a victory in Super Bowl XX, but lost last year in XLI to the Indianapolis Colts. That game marked the first time African American Head Coaches took their teams to the Super Bowl.

The Bears have had 19 Head Coaches, if you count George Halas 4 times. 15 other men have been Head Coaches in Chicago, Papa Bear casts the longest shadow with his 324 wins, 151 losses, and 31 ties in 40 years of coaching. He officially retired from coaching after the 1967 season. He was one of the original inductees into the

Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963, making him the first ever inductee to still be actively involved in the league as a Coach or player and be enshrined. Halas is one of 26 Bears Hall of Famers, tied for most in the NFL.

I will be at that game, and it will be my first live Dallas Cowboys game in my 20 years of life. Needless to say, I'm very excited.

I'm sure this will be said many times this week and everybody knows already but DO NOT PUNT TO Hester. Hester is good, but damn their special teams all around is freaking awesome. I'm forced to watch the bears week in and week out since I live in central, IL. We can't let their defense and special teams win the game. We win the game if we do that IMO.

No kidding, kick it 30 yards out of bounds and take your chances with Rexy's QB ability.
For those of you that were "offended" by last 2 sigs this one is for you.

We should pull a Belichick and sign Tank Johnson tomorrow. Then we can get all the info on the Bears D.

Agreed we can't kick to Hester, speaking of kicking, what was the deal with all the crappy kickoffs today?

its gonna be a hell of a game. Dallas is Offense vs. Bears D. good match. hopefully our offense can kill em. Cuz i think we can stop Rex n company.

I hate to say this, but....I think the Bears have to have a +2 to +3 turnover differential to win this one, which is possible with the defense they have but I think the differential between the Dallas offense and Chicagos offense is greater then the differential between the Chicago defense and Dallas' defense.

I think that's a fair assessment. Basically, if we hold on to the ball, I don't see us losing. We'll outscore them given equal opportunities to do so.

Early commentary about game from the enemies forums:

Quote:
If Rex has a half way decent game, da Bears should win it hands down. The cowgirls are still trying to find themselves on defense. The 3-4 D their coach Hank Hill put together isn't nearly as effective as it was designed. Terrance Neuman, out. Patrick Crayton (sp?) will be playing with a broken finger. Not to mention on the road in Soldier field against a fired up Bears team wanting to go 2-1 on the season..... oh yeah!
Broken finger... he might be out for the whole season.

Quote:
Considering the two teams you played, get ready to take a shot to the mouth from our defense. Our defense is in another league compared to the best defenses in the NFL, let alone the Giants and Dolphins.

Our offense hasn't opened it up yet, and our running game is finally getting started. I doubt you guys beat us 28-7. It may be close, but our special teams and Devin Hester will put the game over the edge and give us a win.

Oh, and we have possibly the best cornerback tandem in the NFL, so TO will have a rough day trying to come down with the pass. Not to mention our pass rush will eat Romo alive.
Optimist.

Quote:
Well considering our defense will hold you to 0 points I can only give you one word of advice.

Don't kick to Devin and pray to god we don't get a defensive TD.
0 points. That sounds about right.

Quote:
Cowboys are going to get punched in the mouth. They haven't faced a D yet that has the intensity that the Bears bring. Romo will be shaken and stirred next week and handed a loss plain and simple. Lions did it do the Cowboys and rattled Romo enough to lose like they did in Seattle.
Bye bye Crowboys. Bears 27 Crowboys 10
A lions fan posting on a bears forum about how great the bears will do against us.

Quote:
Romo the hommmooo

We have to step it up this week. I would consider it a great loss if we lost to the cowboys, especially considering that I think that we are the better team. LOTS of blitzing and lots of bears offence. I think we can pull it off!

Go Bears!!!! I belive in you Grossman!
He belive in you. dot let he down rex.

Like I stated in another thread, with McBriar, we have no reason to punt it directly to Hester. He can punt it 50 yards in the air and have it go out of bounds. His accuracy, hang-time, and distance on punts is unparalleled. This will be a game that we'll use McBriar for the weapon he really is.
