After the penalty, we were $110,311 over the cap BEFORE MAKING ANY MOVES to save cap room -- and that includes the Dez Bryant restructure that has been reported but is not official yet.

Adam...just want to give you a big thanks for all that you provide to the board.

Everything you have posted in regard to cuts and restructures and cap savings is coming to fruition with every tweet. 6m from Newman. 8.5 from Scandrick and Free. 1.26 for Buehler.

Nice to see the naysayers in the media now talking about this stuff...except you did it weeks and months ago.

Someone's gotta ask, might as well be me. What is the cap situation looking like now?

With the cuts and restructures I thought we had made about 16m in space yesterday.

Would think Carr must have at least a 6m hit in year one. Orton around 3m. Vickers maybe 1m. Bernadeau maybe 1-2m. Davis around 2m. Gotta be pushing close to 14m accounted for.

Is it time to expect other deals like Ware and Dez' to get redone? A cut to a guy like Coleman? Or do we wait to make space as we need it?

So, after Carr, Orton, Vickers, and the G from Carolina..............where do we stand?

Do we got any room left or is the team pretty tight against the cap now?

Carr first year hit 3.2m, 16.3 second, 9.5m third, 10 fourth, 11.1 last. Can't wait to see the others. Gotta take Davis off and put Pool in.

Note, I need help here from Adam our super cap guru or someone that understands cap money to figure out how much money we have left after signing 6 players today in all. Basically what i see, we spent 9.7 million this year on our 6 players we signed yesterday and today. How much money did we have before this after cuts, and how much money do we have if the 9.7 cap hit is right? Thanks Adam or whoever?

    Look at this:
Carr Orton Bernadeau Vickers Pool TOTAL
Base Salary Cap Hit Base Salary Cap Hit Base Salary Cap Hit Base Salary Cap Hit Base Salary Cap Hit Real Money Funny Money
    2012 1.2 3.2 0.9 2.6 1.0 1.8 0.8 0.9 1.1 1.2 23.6 9.7
    2013 14.3 16.3 1.35 3.0 1.75 2.6 1.2 1.3 - - - - 18.6 23.2
    2014 7.5 9.5 3.25 4.9 2.25 3.1 - - - - - - - - 13.0 17.5
    2015 8.0 10.0 - - - - 2.75 3.6 - - - - - - - - 10.8 13.6
    2016 9.1 11.1 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 9.1 11.1

    Carr: $10.0 million
    - Orton: $5.0 million
    - Bernadeau: $3.25 million
    - Vickers: $0.2 million
    - Pool: $0.1 million

The Cowboys are paying the new acquisitions about $23.6 in real money this year, but that money will only count for about $9.7 against this year's cap. Take that, Mr. Goodell.

I think the actual impact is less. We were about even with the cap on Tuesday with our top 51 contracts. We did the cut of Newman and Buehler which saved 6m on Newman and 1.26(possibly 1.6) on Buehler. The net savings was less though, because by cutting them and taking their money off the cap, we add to add the next two highest salaries to the bottom. These are generally close to minimum deals around 400k. So the cuts should have given us around 6.46m in space. The restructures of Free and Scandrick supposedly added 8.56m so we should have had in the area of 15m.

These cap hits total 9.7m, but since we are adding guys to the top 51, we are taking off a $400k salary for each one we add. So there are 5 contracts (Connor's hasn't been reported yet) or around 2m coming off the cap. The net change due to the new guys would be about 7.7m on the cap. We should have somewhere in the vicinity of 7m to spend prior to accounting for Connor.

Hopefully Adam will post the exact numbers soon.

You've got some work to do Adam. We need to see how all these free agents and the contract restructuring might limit us in 2013.
