You know - you may be right - I think 4-1 is do-able - but if we are for real - 4 REAL - 5 in a row would send a message .

I thought for a second you were referring to Tiger Woods' consecutive winning streak on the PGA tour which he'll attempt this weekend.

Well as it has been said, 1 game at a time boys.

But, who do you guys play after the skins? I dont think anyone in the NFCE has a stretch where they can confidently say that they can win 5 games in a row.

    Say what??

I do believe Byron Nelson won 11 straight on the Tour, back during WWII...

Edit-- the year was 1945, it WAS 11 in a row, and he won 18 tournaments overall that year...

Don't know where you got the notion that Tiger was going for some kind of PGA Tour record, but whoever told you that doesn't know the history of the game...

Tiger has a LONG way to go for that particular record... he ain't even halfway there yet...

Of course, Nelson had a built-in advantage, many of the Tour's stars back in 1945 were busy fighting a war... don't know why he wasn't in uniform his own self...

And while folks make a big deal out of Tiger's 142 consecutive cuts made, Byron once finished in the top 20 113 straight tournaments... try doing THAT today... Woods' best in that category is 21 straight...

Tiger's a wonderful player, but it annoys me that folks ignore the greats that have gone before in their rush to deify the guy... it's the same phenomenon I experienced when the entire sporting world was on Michael Jordan's jock-- I recognized his greatness, but I got thoroughly SICK of the hero worship... today, in a major championship, some guy could set the course record on opening day, and Tiger could be six shots back, and the headline would be "Tiger Struggles, Is Six Shots Back"...

And that royally hacks me off... it's like Tiger Woods is the only good golfer out there these days, when in fact we're blessed with an uncommonly large number of truly great players, perhaps more than we've ever had on the Tour at any one time...

And it's past time that Tiger started playing like the greatest player in the world (which he is, at the moment) in the freakin' Ryder Cup... I'm gettin' real fed up with him playing far below his ability in the Cup...

silverbear, I don't think he said anything about 5 straight being a PGA record, just he confused the title, and thought the poster was going to talk about Tiger's 5 consecutive wins streak, which he already accomplished last week

Hmmm, maybe you're right... ah well, at least it gave me a chance to give y'all a history lesson (Byron Nelson is kind of a hero of mine), and vent some of my anger at Tiger for the crappy way he's played in the Ryder Cup... that sucker better play better than that this next time around... :D
